"The driver didn't violate Metro policy - she felt she had to advocate for her passengers by politely and apologetically asking the woman to exit the bus."

Good work, Metro.

"He had just pooped in his diaper as soon as I got on [the bus]," she told ABC News.

"Right after that, the bus driver told me to get off the bus," Hakimian said. "I said, 'why is that?' She said, 'your baby ... smells really bad. And it's not fair that we all have to smell that.'"

Good on the bus driver. You have absolutely zero right to inflict your soiled child on the general public. The woman should have changed the kid's diaper before getting on the bus.

Nope, sorry, no sympathy. If your baby craps itself, I understand, they do that, but it is not my responsibility to have to deal with it. Get a transfer, get off the bus, get the kid cleaned up and changed, and then get on the next bus. You may be used to the smell of babys**t, and I understand that as a parent, it doesn't bother you, but I do not have kids for exactly that reason. Keep your kid's feces out of my face.

(Also, why are you 4 months pregnant when you've still got one infant in diapers?)

Apparently you do.

I say we go send Olivia Wilde to shiat on the hood of her car (if she has a car), alternatively, her AC unit so that stench gets passed around a bit.

God only knows what would have happened on an American Airlines flight.

The bus driver did what was right. Why let the other passengers suffer by letting a poopy kid on the bus? People will say "But babies will be babies...", but do we let rapists be rapists? Do we let criminals be criminals? If some guy decides to pee/poo while still on the bus and uses the "it's part of my culture to pee/poo anywhere" or "oh it's a medical condition, pay no attention to me" reason, should we allow him to stay on the bus?

No.

The other commuters are just like you. They pay the fare and hope to get to their destination as quickly as possible with as little trouble. Nobody is perfect. Some may use strong cologne, some may have not taken a shower for a few days. Still, there's a certain limitation to tolerance. Most little annoyances aren't as strong as a baby's poo. Others can easily be ignored, but imagine yourself having to travel a long distance with the smell of baby's crap flowing into your nose non-stop and there's no way to avoid it. Now what?

Yes, babies will be babies. They can't stop themselves from pooping their diapers because they don't have that ability yet. Still, as much responsibility a parent has for his/her child, so should the parent consider how inconvenienced other people might be due to the baby's problems.

Having a baby does not give you special permit to cause trouble to others.

If you put the soiled diaper in a dog poopie bag it holds in the smell.

My daughter is almost 3 and isn't potty trained yet. She's just not quite ready to do it.

In Portland a couple years ago, a homeless dude got on the bus and sat right behind me. The guy absolutely reeked. It was a long-stewing odor of bacterially-fermented sweat, urine, feces, hair oil and whatever the hell he'd been rolling in. People quickly moved away from him, filling all the available seats possible. I was prepared to stick it out, but once my gorge began to rise and I started gagging, I just got off the bus. I felt like I was covered with a physical film of stench. I wish the driver had told his ass to get off the bus.

Achievement unlocked: odor in the court. Getting a smelly baby and parent out of the bus.

what about the smelly old people who piss and crap their pants. What about the tool who wears an entire bottle of cologne? what about the jerk who ate 40 cloves of garlic and reeks while he sweats and breathes? tons of people smell. That's why i thank god for my allergies.

2012-10-20 07:12:29 PM
Chances are she folded up three seats to accommodate the SUV-sized stroller her little snowflake was in, or she was blocking the aisle. She shouldn't force the other passengers to smell her kid's shiat on top of everything else. Good on the driver for throwing her off

That is one of several reasons why I chose not to breed.

Babies drive me insane. Their screaming cry can drive me close to homicide. I want to take a baseball bat to every freakin' parent who just has to keep shopping in a store with their screaming kid and shoot those who do the same in a restaurant.

I'm not sure which is worse, riding a bus with a reeking kid or walking through a wet parking lot, after a summer rain on a hot day and having to jog around the inevitable, disposable, used diapers pigs have dropped out of their cars, to simmer in the puddles.

Even nicer once a car or two runs them over.

Years back, when smoking was cool, in a restaurant, I was asked by a young couple with an infant sitting next to me, to not smoke. It bothered the baby.

They sat in the friggin' SMOKING area.

I'm afraid I insulted them a tad.

Theres a big difference between "guy at the end of the bus who hasnt showered for a few days" versus the "baby with incredibly offensive fecal odor permeating the entire bus" . You think an employee with a stellar record, who is quite used to smelling people, would stop this one woman and ask her to leave just to be mean to her?

My daughters were babies once, I remember taking care of their stinky asses, it was a hassle. Doesnt mean she can inflict her pain on the rest of the public, though. Get off the bus, clean your damn kid up so it smells acceptable, then get back on the bus.

5monkeys: . What about the tool who wears an entire bottle of cologne? .

I drive people around for a hotel and I wish to God I could refuse people based on heavy cologne/perfume use. There are times where I've actually had to drive that van around for 5-10 minutes with all windows open (in winter) to get rid of the stench of heavy cologne and perfume after I've dropped them off. (The worst offenders seem to come from India)

Soap and water people, learn it, use it, love it.

Other people have to deal with the fact that children poop in their diapers. For the same reason you pay for maternity leave and education. Yes the welfare of children is more important then your worthless complaints.

How was the child's welfare endangered by having to be pushed in a stroller for a few blocks?

Hell, considering how filthy people are, bringing a young child onto a bus at all is more endangering than that. They explore with hands and mouths and a bus is basically a petri dish...

Jesus, some people in this thread are pretty shocking..

I get on a public transit, people smell. If a HOMELESS person is next to me and they were able to afford a fair that is a luxury, what kind of ninny am I that I can't survive a few minutes of discomfort out of my relatively wonderful existence so he or she can have a minute of something nice. A mother gets on the bus to take a sick child to a doctor, the child shiats its pants the minute she gets on the bus...and what is she supposed to do? Are we all such delicate flowers now we can't just suck it up for a few minutes so she can get where she needs to go?

Y'all are pretty selfish.
