Sorry, as a former meth user I have never, do not now, and never will subscribe to the theory that meth should be legal. It should always be as illegal as possible so that scumbags like this, when they get caught, can be locked up for the safety of the rest of us.

There's only one way not to become a meth head, and that's to never use meth. There's only one way to stop being a meth head, and that's to stop using meth. It can't be done safely and it can't be done recreationally. There is no in-between. So it needs to be 100% illegal and users given a choice: Stop using it or stay in prison till you do. As a former user, I totally appreciate how hard that is, I really do; but I've been off it almost 20 years so I know it's completely possible.

I'll agree with you all day about pot; but never about meth.

oldtaku: Nah, drugs are not really really bad. They are if you have an addictive personality or if you've got a war on drugs that means you have no freaking idea what you're getting.

Most people can do booze, cigs, pot, cocaine, speed, whatever and take it or leave it. All these drugs and what is my drug of choice? Beer. It's super high quality - small producers take insanely admirable pride in their product, it tastes great, and the variety is second to none.

The scary bit is you don't know for sure if you're that minority addictive personality till you try. And after that you've got to worry about contamination, which is a real huge f@#4ing thing to really be afraid of thanks to our war on drugs. I won't do meth or 'bath salts' either just because you don't know what the hell you're getting.

But that's just 'war on drugs means really bad shiat', not 'drugs are bad'. During (alcohol) prohibition in the US the booze could easily kill or blind you too. That's just policy.

Yeah I agree. Also if drugs were decriminalized it's not as if tons of people would be rushing out to do meth, not with safer drugs easily available that are still capable of getting you ridiculously high. Most people care about their health and well being, it's why everyone isn't an alcoholic now.

Drugs are most dangerous to the folk that are addicted to them right now...people that are filling that emotional black hole with an addiction are going to find a way to self destruct whether drugs are illegal or not. That's why the focus should be on treatment and education; not law enforcement and turning these people into criminals.

I am pretty much in this guys camp here. Pot? GREAT! Cocaine? Fine. Shrooms? Fine. MDMA...probably fine, but I am less sure about that one. I would also be ok with a "if it comes from the ground and is not artificially concentrated or created in a 'lab' you can have it" rule.

Jesus, just give em the meth they want already. The heroin, crack, LSD, mushrooms, MDMA, or whatever else they want too. Trying to stop people from doing what people will do anyway is at least counterproductive if not completely retarded. Well, unless you profit from it, that is.

Rent Party: ladyfortuna: Meth is a whole other level of scary when people are cooking it themselves.

I agree completely. Meth shouldn't be illegal because you can get high with it, it should be illegal because you leave a Superfund site behind every time you make it.

Again, that's War on Drugs. The Mexican cartels are now making huge quantities of super-pure meth in factory conditions (since we've obliged them by making non-placebo cold medicine such a pain to get). It's making it yourself in primitive conditions that's so toxic.

A guy I used to work with talked about some lady friend of his who took meth just to lose weight and stopped when she reached her target weight.

Turns out he was full of shiat and was just trying to get me to ask him where I can get some meth. Good sales pitch.

Cool. I want to shoot you in the spine for making an idiotic comparison between MDMA and illicit Methamphetamines. Two types of drugs which are TOTALLY in the same harm class. We're cool, since this is what I want to do, right?

After all, trying to stop me from doing this is totally counter-productive, and society will surely have to pick up none of the cost afterwords.

Sorry if I offended... I was on a drug acronym roll. My point still stands regardless. Criminal/law enforcement approach to drug use and addictions is just teh stupid, that is all.

And drug laws make that less likely how? Oh, wait. Please say you're trolling me?
