(Some alienated being)   I need a little help. Driving a really good friend to see Ian Anderson on Saturnsday in Long Beach Cal, and I have a couple of hours to kill while she is at the gig and the travel guide has nothing. Any ideas ? Thanks   (cc.visitlongbeach.com) divider line 34

Don't do it. I know it sounds like a good way to spend a couple of hours, and sure it would be a laugh, but spending that time killing is just not good for your karma, man.

I'd just go see Ian. You know there will be tickets available, and I've always heard he's a heck of a showman.

Heya ! Madhonib needs to order a sculpture of her son in Santa Monica and then I have to have her at the venue by 1900 or so ( 20 Okt ) . So, I could chance sitting in the car and reading and have a beer or two while she is there ( I have nothing but respect for Ian Anderson, but it is not my thing, plus, I could only afford one ticket, so she got dibs ... I not only submitted this for some advice, but to hopefully making some LBC Farker make some additions to the Travel Guide.

BSABSVR: Read this

Um, this might sound strange, but we were together for about a decade before I came out as trans, and she is not a Lesbian. Love her dearly though for being there for me.

FloydA: Don't do it. I know it sounds like a good way to spend a couple of hours, and sure it would be a laugh, but spending that time killing is just not good for your karma, man.

I did lol. Thanks folks for any real input. And someone add to the travel guide that john paul jones started many years back

Go see the canals. Waterways, gondolas and rich folk. Nice walk, pretty. Also pretty amazing at Christmas Time. Dunno if they do anything for Halloween.

Thanks. I might do that. is that a carry situation, or am i okay leaving the weapons in the safe?
Gotta get ready for work, i'll check this later

You'd probably want to check out Belmont Shore.
Places to eat, drink, dance and people watch.
Friendly atmosphere, too.

See if there are any good Indian restaurants in the area, because Ian loves himself some Indian food - AFTER the gig, because tarka dhal farts ruin the soundcheck. What the heck, figure out who the theatre's PR person is and drop them a line about it. Maybe it's already in his rider.

Dinner with Ian Anderson should be right up there next to getting high with Willie.

Glad you got a laugh.

Srslytho: Aquarium of the Pacific is pretty great, and really check out the Queen Mary. Enjoy your trip; Bong Leach is a pretty cool guy place.

Heh, just got home from work. It's probably safer than anywhere else in the LA metro area. Just look like you belong and you'll be fine. Hell, pop a few bucks on a gondola and ride in style if you've got a few hours to kill. Stare in rich people's front rooms. They almost expect it nowadays.

Little India is about 30 mins away or so depending on traffic... 405 South to 605 North to 91 East, exit Pioneer head south. Little India.

There are bars nearby. Mai Tai Bar has Mai Tais.

Don't think the Aquarium is open on Saturday nights, but maybe.

Canals in Long Beach? Must have missed 'em. Venice yes.

And this thread is why i have loved Fark for many years. Folks help folks. Ty all. I am poor as frelling frak,
but you folks have taken some time out of your days to give me advice, ty.
Drew- I offer this as an example as to how your new tab can work. I asked for something, I kinda got some ideas, and many folks shared. I rest my case, and please give me some warning when you come to town- Good Whisky needs time to displace into here. or soemthing

This. Just saw him myself. Very much worth seeing. If you like Jethro Tull or anything like it, you'll like him. If you're "meh" about it, he's still an engaging and entertaining showman with a great sense of humour. You have to actively not like his music, I think, not to like his show.

Every relationship is different, as all people are, but in my own head I don't see why a small detail like that should be a dealbreaker. Not prying, jusy saying.
