I like it and will buy one huge.

My idears: 1) "Hunger doesn't have a license to vote."; 2) "Soup works."; 3) "Politics actually makes good soup here."; 4) "Feed me first (front), (back) then engage and educate me: soup: what can't it do?"; 5) If religion was taxed, AND we gave freely, just think of what we could do for the human on earth, sans religio-politicos?

Dang.

We could change the world together.

NewportBarGuy: I'll leave it at that, but I think it's silly to say this is simply about charity.

But this very thing is just about giving. From any side of the aisle. I think that was the point .
Red or Blue or Purple or even Pink- we can all help those in need. Maybe I am being a bit naive here, but i sure hope not. I would like to think that in some ways ( well, many ) we need to step away from the us versus them mentality and just at least try to do good. Scratch that- we should just do good.

I should be in the kitchen: Indubitably: I should be in the kitchen: Threadshiatters aside, this is why I love Fark. Well, this and the ponies.

Kudos to you guys for organizing this!

Quit labeling posters, asshat, just speak, okay?

Unless you're elaborating on the label, otherwise stfu, plz. Thanks.

Is there a post min/max for threadshiatting?

Is insider knowledge creating a divide?

Is you?

Ooh, touched a nerve, did I?

Obviously.

P.S. You get no points for scoring.

Yes, especially when "muscling" involves rapidly moving your hand up and down 2 inches.

I was speaking globally, and you are actually speaking personally?

The Last Rap

Tangen had studied with Sengai since childhood. When he was twenty he wanted to leave his teacher and visit others for comparitive study, but Sengai would not permit this. Every time Tangen suggested it, Sengai would give him a rap on the head.

Finally Tangen asked an elder brother to coax permission from Sengai. This the brother did and then reported to Tangen: "It is arranged. I have fixed it for you to start on your pilgrimage at once."

Tangen went to Sengai to thank him for his permission. The master answered by giving him another rap.

When Tangen related this to his elder brother the other said: "What is the matter? Sengai has no business giving premission and then changing his mind. I will tell him so." And off he went to see the teacher.

"I did not cancel my permission," said Sengai. "I just wished to give him one last smack over the head, for when he returns he will be enlightened and I will not be able to reprimand him again."

Just donated 25 bucks to the organization directly, here are my comments.

This donation is for direct support of Brian J. Antal, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society. I can only hope that the republican party blunders and the loss of fair weather vindictive donators will only fuel the desire of people across this nation to right the wrongs via donation that have been done to your organization and the people you help.

This is the soup kitchen that Paul Ryan did his photo-op in and it's losing some of its donations as a result. This is a privately funded, non-partisan, apolitical organization.

If you RTA you'll see you have other options if you don't want to donate to this soup kitchen. Amongst those are donating instead to a soup kitchen, food bank, homeless shelter or other worthy charities in your area.

It's about feeding hungry folks... so why this particular kitchen, and why immediately after the Paul Ryan photo-op? Were there no hungry people before that story broke? WTF?

You want a plaque?

For the record: I give to humanity every day I am on this earth in myriad ways, and I don't expect any return; financial industry, you would do well to relearn this concept: community benefit for benefit itself.

You're welcome.

Question, on the donation page it states something to the effect of "They will request that the money is donated to this particular soup kitchen". What happens if the charity decides not to give the money where the people that donate what it to go? Is there any way to contact the charity and get some type of response from them agreeing that they will donate all the money to this particular soup kitchen, or do the farkers not really care if it goes to this particular one? It is a great cause, just looking for a little more clarification.

Because this particular soup kitchen has been the victim of an undeserved political attack, and we need to make a point that feeding hungry people takes total precedence over political crapslinging.

The fact that the situation makes the GOP look bad...well that's just a little bonus for some of the folks here.

You think there are better causes to spend your money on? Go right ahead, no one here is going to stop you.

Please, stop with the strawman stuff. It took one kitchen losing donors for one person to make this thing happen, just like it took one 14 year old girl getting shot to make a lot of folks stand up and say enough is enough to the taliban. In other words- please dont be obtuse.

But fair enough, I'll go be disingenuous somewhere else.
