Oh god it was 2004. I was asked if I minded foreign movies(non English). I said yeah I don't mind them. Mom said okay this movie about revenge sounds cool. The movie in question was Irreversible. *face palms*

My parents are divorced so I got two awkward pop culture moments for the price of one!

Mom: She walked in during the sex scene between Tom Cruise and Elisabeth Shue in Cocktail.

Dad: Rented Police Academy, not knowing about the boobies on the beach at the beginning. I don't think I've ever seen him move faster than when he grabbed the remote to fast forward the video tape.

If we including friends, I made the mistake of convincing a friend to see Million Dollar Baby on DVD shortly after her dad was diagnosed with ALS. The final half hour or so was torture for her. She still hasn't forgiven me for that. In retrospect, that was pretty stupid of me to tell her to see it; I had already seen it theaters and was telling everyone to see it.

I had moved back home after college, and picked up A History of Violence on dvd. I had never seen it before. My mom asks if she can watch it with me. I agree. Man, I thought it was just going to be violent.

watching Bram Stoker's Dracula with my dad who, when we got to the part with the vamp chicks rising out of the bed with reeves said, "I wonder where I could get a bed like that."

// laughing and hiding a cringe is a very wierd feeling.

When I was a teen, my parents discovered a porno a boyfriend had rented for me.

Then they made me sit in the living room with both of them and watch it til i ran out of the room in embarrassment about 15 minutes in.

/didn't work, I still love porn

ZAZ: SundaesChild: I think I was slightly older than that when I saw it but as a girl the boobies didn't phase me. The blow job/car crash scene, however....

That got to me too, enough that last time people started boasting about road head on Fark I couldn't imagine how anybody could do that in a car.

Not seen the movie, but the book is the reason I refuse to give road head.

The completely-out-of-nowhere lesbian foot fetish scene in "The Last Emperor." Other than that, it's a pretty normal biopic.

As a kid, was watching In Living Color while extremely Catholic mom was also in the living room. An Andrew Dice Clay sketch came on, which was mostly censor beeps, came on, and she was not pleased.

/in retrospect, she laughed at the Bob Saget sketch where the dude was entitled "Bob Faget."
//I'm gay. Serves her right.

I'm going to really pre-date all of you.I was in high school when Peyton Place was made into a tv
serial.Trying to do homework at the dining room table and pay attention to the show, without getting caught.
Very forbidden topics for tv at that time.
Even further back, seeing (from the backseat at the drive-in) the pre-views for All About Eve starring Brigot Bardot. The skirt dropping scene I can still see in my mind today.
An age of innocence compared to today.

Eustacia Vye: Add me to the "Watching Monty Python's Meaning of Life with my dad" list. The whole sex ed class scene seemed like it lasted like 3 hours.

Watching "Life of Brian" with my mom had some awkward moments.

SundaesChild: I tried to find [Pretty Baby] online but it's surprisingly tricky to find and I got scammed for $19.99.

Netflix used to have it, and it appears to be available on Amazon Prime.

Watching somebody else's home videos can get pretty uncomfortable.

When I was in 10th grade (at a public HS in very conservative St. Charles MO) our non-Western cultures teacher decided to show us Shogun toward the end of the year. This was the VHS version with the bewbies. The teacher didn't pay very close attention and the nudity went un-interrupted until a classmate very slowly said "Heyyy, this is school!" Hilarious.
