Mormons don't have pastors is what I've heard. "Pastor" is being used to make him more palpable to the christian right.

"Bishop Romney

Romney served as Mormon bishop from 1981-86, during the same period he left Bain & Company to launch the private equity investment firm Bain Capital. He typically spent 15-30 hours a week, without pay, organizing and leading the ward and counseling ward members."

My Mormon family are actually ashamed of him for not being proud that he is a Mormon, instead choosing to put on the costume of an everyday Christian with the completely made up 'Pastor' term. My Mom said she didn't see him as a 'real Mormon'. It's going to hurt his MO vote...or not.

I'm not Mormon nor religious at all but that's my feeling. If faith is truly a large part of who you are then embrace it. He has no true core, nor values nor soul. Everything is calculated.

IMHO He threw the Mormons under the bus in the last debate. When he referred to himself as a Pastor he was dissing the Mormans. They have been trying for years to be a mainstream religion. He acted like it embarassed him to say he was a Bishop. It's like having a friend for 10 years , then he gets new cool friends and acts like he don't know you.

I have always enjoyed Salt Lake City and Park City. I can't recall a negative interaction with anybody of the Mormon faith.

BUT,

I don't know that I want a Mormon in the White House any more than a 7th Day Adventist, or J-Dub, or any of the extra kooky sects of Christianity.

I emailed Obama's campaign and administration accounts all day, trying to get them to consider Huntsman to replace Clinton as Secretary of State. I can't think of someone more qualified, and it would only add to his credits for 2016... though he'd probably be more widely accepted as Rubio's VP or Secretary of State.

Mormons never call a bishop "pastor" to his face, ever. Seriously, the concept never even registers as a possibility. I've never once heard a bishop ever refer to himself as a pastor.

At best they will explain to others that a bishop has many of the same roles that a pastor has in order to clarify some of the confusion that may come about due to the historical use of the term "bishop".

Romney referring to himself as having been a "pastor" was a PR move, pure and simple, in order to try and make his faith appear more palatable to many in his party that have less than positive views of the LDS faith.
