China will never go to war with Japan because a war with the US would be pointless.

However, crazy xenophobic hatred of your neighbors is super convenient right around the time of internal government transitions. Just ask us!

Since this is Fox News, can I assume that it's happening because President Obama is in office, projecting weakness, staining White House sheets nightly?

This is why you're paying for a TotalFark account? Sad.

Yes, actually, but let us Google that for you.

Those crazy guys. They should tuck in their political penises and create a China Seas Cooperation Zone. Only members are allowed access. Resources developed and sold via corporations created by and regulated by the cooperative.

They could make trillions. Or fight a war that nobody wins.

Mildly worrisome. The Chinese would be farking stupid to do it, but the Japanese were farking stupid to get involved in WWII. It didn't stop them. Since, as noted above, the Japanese Navy is essentially the United States Pacific Fleet, the whole thing could end up in a nuclear exchange. I'd really hoped that "We're all doomed. Someone's going to push the Red Button sooner rather than later, so lets take all the drugs we can get our hands on while we're drinking ourselves to death!" zeitgeist would become merely a quaint notion associated with the Cold War.

China had about 400k killed and and another 400k wounded in the Korean War. That's quite a few more casualties than the US suffered in WWII

That would be funny to see. The Fox News viewers wouldn't know who to nuke first, the non-white people that terk-er-jerbs, or the non-white people that we were once at war with. Like a dog chasing its tail.

Japan considers the area part of its contiguous waters, but it is not illegal for foreign vessels to transit them.

They have no standing military. Only 'Self-Defense Forces', whose personnel are technically civilians.

One of the reasons we used the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the entire civilian population of Japan were training to kill Americans with whatever they could get a hold of.

Don't be confused... The JSDF is very capable. Not capable of killing 1B Chinese, but very capable nonetheless. Not to mention, if China and Japan are warring, so are we and half the rest of the planet...

That said, COME AT ME, BRO!!! USA! USA! USA!

False.

The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force alone is about 46,000 total personnel and consists of some 110 major warships. They have four helicopter destroyer class ships, eight Aegis guided missile destroyers, twenty nine small destroyers, three destroyer escorts, and sixteen attack subs. They have over 150 fixed wing aircraft and 120 helicopters which are used in anti submarine warfare.

This just covers the Naval side of the Japanese SDF which is quite impressive on its own. All in all the entire SDF is about a quarter of a million strong.

From ~1950-2000; half the 20th century. 2001-2012, the entirety of the known 21st century. Thus, century and a half.

That's one of the drawbacks of a tactical doctrine which includes 'assault heavy artillery positions by charging people into the killing zone until the enemy runs out of shells'

It was the communist ideal where everyone was equal -- there was no chain of command, no organization. So, the only strategy was large offensives.
