Awwwwww...

Fun fact: if you ever find yourself in Nairobi, Kenya, you should firstly get yourself out ASAP as that city sucks but secondly if you have a day and need something to do head to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage there. They basically take the baby elephants like this who get stuck in wells or their mothers get poached etc and raise them until they can be released into the wild, and for something like US$5 you can see them feeding them.

It was perhaps one of the most adorable things I've ever seen, honestly-

you know, if they only had a SHOVEL, they could have dug a ramp out of that hole with absolutely no danger of the rope constricting the baby elephant.

And here I thought I was the only one...hell, even a stout grover board attached
to the truck would have graded it nicely enough....

Maybe the sand/soil/whatever is too dense for that?

They hooked the rope under it's butt basically making a swiss seat, so I doubt there was too much constriction.

They needed a WVian or two there though. As much experience as we have pulling vehicles and ATVs out of holes and ditches, we'd have had that baby elephant out of there in about 60 seconds.

It would have taken forever to dig out a ramp that deep.

Wow Kenya sure is dusty, damn my eyes ...

Andromeda: for something like US$5 you can see them feeding them

You got ripped off... Nice that you could give the money to those in need, but $5 is a bit steep to watch someone feed animals in a third-world country. You could probably live for a week on $5 out there.

I'm assuming the tissue is for wiping the elephant's ass?

I doubt $5 would feed an elephant for a week.. I imagine the $5 goes to support the orphanage. Think of it as a required donation.

Nairobi is richer than most American cities.

Did you watch where they dragged the baby on the ground for a bit? What if there had been a sharp rock embedded in the dirt there that wound up slicing baby's skin.

I was fine through the whole video. ...until it got to the part where you saw baby running towards Momma and Momma running towards baby.

God this head cold's acting up again.

It has a healthy economy, especially by African standards, but it's also home to the world's largest slum (approx 250,000 residents).
