the only faction i'm worried about is the evangelicals. And not even all the evangelicals, just the more fanatical sects, the ones who've been preaching that an Obama win signals a '1000 years of darkness' and the return of the anti-christ. THOSE guys kinda worry me, since they seem to really honestly believe that Obama getting re-elected will trigger the End Times.

luckily, there aren't very many of those folks and they're relatively scattered around the country. not enough of them to kick off any major riots.

I think it will depend on the margin of the win. If it's a repeat of the 2000 election, there may be some cause for concern. If it is more like the 2008 election, I don't think it will be a problem.

/I never said I need to know what the hell I'm talking about to spout off.

The thing I'm most worried about is the few crazies who decide after Obama is re-elected that they need to martyr themselves. Luckily, the Secret Service is very good at its job, but every few weeks, I think about the horror I might feel if I brought up one of the big news sites and saw a horrifying 64-point headline.

I don't remember the last time the republican demographic rioted. I do remember quite a few times when certain segments of the democratic demographic did.

It gets a little complicated since if you go back far enough you have demographics who were democrat at the time rioting, even if they've completely switched parties in the years since. Not to mention the difference between a particularly aggressive protest and an actual riot can sometimes be a little fuzzy.

Anyways, I probably wouldn't expect any major riots. We might have a couple protests here and there no matter who wins, perhaps more if there are some plausible shenanigans in play. Overall however it will take more then Obama getting re-elected or Romney getting elected to cause riots on any significant scale.

Step 1. Skip work to go a'rioting
Step 2. Get fired
Step 3. Blame Obama

Hyperventilating over Obama is so 2008.

Four years of economic carnage does tend to temper one's desire to burn cars when dopes get fired.

Yes, because him getting elected was perfectly a-okay but re-elected must mean ... what? Honestly, some derp is just so muddled that I don't even know where you're going.

There were a half-dozen or so instances of celebratory gunshots in my relatively small town when Obama was elected.

I worry about the celebrations more than some middle-aged, overweight, financially secure white people "rioting".

There are a number of people who believe that Obama has been holding back because he had to worry about re-election. It's the second term where the gloves come off and he comes for all their guns. So yeah, the rhetoric will somehow be even worse during his second term than his first.

On a side note, "There's a Riot Goin' On" is right up there with "4'33," in terms of silent classics.

Then again, after the last four years, we have plenty of people with no jobs to lose.

The fact that we even have to ask this question is telling.

The riots will be the day after. It's asking liberals a bit much to vote AND riot all in the same day. They'd miss The X Factor and *insert dumbass sitcom here*.

If the Birther/Kenyan nonsense was as loud as it was in 2008 and the President lost? Then I'd worry a little bit. But if he loses, black people will be pissed but not riot in the street mad. The right has done a great job of being racist without being too overt this time around. Guess they're growing as people.

I check in with them every so often. Lots of internet tough guys making threats who would actually piss their pants if they were faced with actual danger. There was a thread about Black Panthers being poll watchers and there were lots of "they better not show up at my polling place, I'll shoot them" comments. Yeah, you're going to go out and commit first degree murder in broad daylight in front of witnesses. And then go home and make love to your wife Morgan Fairchild.

Right wing billionaires like the Koch brothers have spent millions on charter buses which took the faithful to big Tea Party rallies- I am sure that they will be able to pay for a a few plane fares to gather these scattered minions in one place for a post-election riot if they wanted to!

You retards are SO out of touch. I would suggest that you all go to the South Side of Chicago on 11/7. 47th and S. State would be a nice spot. Get there early, before the National Guard cordons off the area. Swallow a plastic tag with your name and address, so the coroner can identify your charred remains. Reason? Watts, 1968: Chicago, 1968, Rodney King, Philly, Detroit. The Mennonites don't need a reason, and this time no one is going to care if they kill and burn their own.

What happens if the Republican uses the FOI Act to uncover his predecessor's actual records? People will go to jail for fraud and perjury.

The "Amish" have used up all the racial tolerance. Our Affirmative Action Usurper has raped the entire AA program. There is a case before the SC that will trash AA and racial set asides. When 95% vote for the other guy, do you expect them to get an invitation to to the Oval Office? If the Republican issues such an invite, he is going to use up ALL the small political capital he has. He will have to, however, since he isn't bright enough or strong enough to stand up. Why shouldn't he? Remember someone saying "We won!"?
