"I saw these lights and thought they looked very strange."

Well that's irrefutable proof. Shame the UK doesn't have helicopters or do they just call them something silly like most other things. Oh look! It's a roundy-round-lilly-droop.

The only reason aircraft have lights is because they want to be seen. If a UFO wants to be seen, why the fark doesn't it just land and say hello? Or at least sky-write a message for us.

Nah, aliens are like old drivers - they leave their turning signals on and forget it happened.

I actually saw a UFO tonight! No idea what it was (unidentified), it was in the air (flying), and it was a thing(object). First time it's ever happened to me.

I live in the general vicinity of RDU, so I get planes flying at fairly low altitude quite often. So when I saw this light in the sky I didn't really pay attention. Just figured it was another passenger jet flying low with its spotlight things on that light up the sides of the plane from the wings forward.

So anyways, I was just looking in that general direction, not really paying much attention to it when the lights went out. So I was like wtf and then started actually paying attention. That's when this little blue dot appeared in that spot and started moving in a straight line. Looked exactly like the satellites you can spot on any given clear night.

Basically looks just like a star (to the naked eye of course), only it's moving quite steadily and at a good clip across the sky. Only then this one made a turn and started to move somewhat erratically. Then the light went out and I didn't see anything else. Doesn't help that there were trees obscuring sections of my vision, and I wish I had looked more closely at the original bright yellow light.

Sooo..that was pretty cool.

On further reflection, it could've been a pretty awesome meteor. First it was burning up in the atmosphere (yellow glow), then it broke up and perhaps a core or something continued on in a straight line towards me. Or over me. Whatever.

The thing that made me dismiss that idea immediately was the turn it made to my left. Could there have been a pocket of gas or something that changed its trajectory when it exploded or something?

Clearly, you're a tinfoil-hat-wearing-whackjob just for noticing it.

Kidding. Just jealous, cuz I'd like to see one of these things that riles folks up for myself.

Can't really tell it was the sky she was pointing at. To me, it looks like several emergency vehicles with their lights on. One drives away at the end.

Gyrfalcon: They are strange lights! So it must be space aliens! It couldn't POSSIBLY be anything else!!!

they are streetlights, so space aliens couldn't possibly be visiting us. that would be impossible. because we know for certain advanced civilizations can't make that kind of trip, and they would automatically land on the white house lawn anyway

besides it's too much like ridiculous sci-fi.

so pay no attention to the other flying anomalies in the sky that don't act light streetlights. they're obviously not alien. that would be impossible.

Weather in Scotland is dismal this time of year. Damp and dreary. Look at the sky in her picture where she is pointing.

Here's a Scottish power line over a field. See the triple lines?
upload.wikimedia.org

The lights in the video appear to move around because the camera wasn't held steady. My guess is she saw coronal discharge from the conductors on a wet power pole. No wonder the lights were in the same spot a few hours later. Power poles don't move around.

wouldn't surprise me if they were headlights from distant cars, maybe combined with a night time mirage effect.

No perspective in the video showing that those lights are 'in the sky'? Yea, they were a few cop cars or ambulances up the road at an accident scene or something similar.
