My thoughts were: you might have thought of that before hatching then executing a plot to kill 3000 human beings.

Don't believe in death penalties, I don't believe executing him goes a wet slap towards making amends, don't believe in torture, etc.

What I do believe is that I'm not going to take refrains of "We are the World" from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed very seriously, if at all. He's probably right, don't get me wrong- National Security's a cop-out. Then again the "we are all human beings" consideration sounds pretty worthless coming from him as well.

Significant details about the defendants' treatment in so-called CIA black sites have been disclosed by the government and reported in the media, including that Mohammed was subjected to 183 episodes of waterboarding.

Human rights advocates say the technique is a form of torture. US officials deny that harsh interrogations crossed the line into torture.

The defendants were also subjected to forced nudity, extreme isolation and sensory deprivation, prolonged temperature extremes, sleep deprivation, and threats made against family members, according to government documents.

Newly Released DOJ Memos Support Account of Torture of KSM's Children using Insects
"A set of memos recently released by the Obama administration provide some support for allegations that the children of alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (KSM) were tortured to reveal their father's whereabouts. A detainee's relative said that they had been tortured with insects in 2007, and the newly released memos approve the use of insects as a part of the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques."

Color me naive but I didn't think they could find people that would actually take part in this.

183 waterboardings?
I might plead guilty to all that plus dropping a house on the wicked witch, stealing candy from babbys, burning down the orphanage, raping ducklings, peeing in the pool, causing global warming, etc, etc.

He recently saw a new docco on 9/11 where "you can see the planes approaching but in the last couple of frames - they're not there!" ... "... missiles ..." ... and so on.

Here's something a farker said once that I find describes this well:
"One of those people who, if asked, will probably identify as being sceptical, yet is more concerned with locating conspiracy than in developing a realistic understanding of a situation."

It's pretty worthless from anybody in his position. A defendant in this kind of trial needs to be very quiet and let his lawyer do all the talking.

hmmm.

While waterboarding and the torture they put him through are atrocious, there is other evidence he actually did do most of that stuff (WTC 1993 bombings was most likely him, Bojinka was definitely him, Bali was him, the shoe bombing attempt was him and the murder of Daniel Pearl was likely him).

Worked for Osama (except the lawyer part, of course).

And not to worry, the judge realized that his OOPS embarrassed the government, and has pledged to mend his ways:

"We need to make something clear here," [judge] Pohl said with more than a trace of irritation in his voice. "This is a one-time occurrence. If the accused wish to represent themselves as attorneys that is one issue, but however heartfelt, I am again not going to entertain any personal comments by the accused."

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, (2nd r.) the alleged mastermind of the September 11 attacks, addresses the judge during the third day of pre-trial hearings in the 9/11 war crimes prosecution as depicted in this Pentagon-approved courtroom sketch at the US Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, October 17.

You misunderstand my "hmmm"

I was wondering if there was a correlation between the astounding number of things he has confessed to and the number of times he was tortured. It seems to me this in an unfortunate way to uncover the truth.

2012-10-18 05:35:41 PM

Because People in power are Stupid: machoprogrammer: KSM is one bad mofo. The terrorist organization that he founded (I forgot the name of it) basically taught that it was ok for their members to disregard Islamic laws in order to fit in with the people they were attacking... That is why reports of the hijackers hanging out at strip clubs and drinking before the hijackings came about.

Only worse one is Hambali (who, thankfully, is also in custody). He wanted to turn all of SE Asia into an Islamic superpower... Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, etc...

Yeah, but these are really hypocritical. They weren't visiting strip clubs to "fit in" anymore than the porn stash Found on Osama Bin Laden's computer was for educational purposes.

Yes. A group of unnamed "officials" made a self serving statement off the record that could never be disproven. There are entire departments of the DOD dedicated to terrorist misinformation campaigns. Why wouldn't they say there was porn on his computer?
