desertgeek: Well, if you do watch the X Factor or, for that matter, American Idol or any of those other "talent" shows; you're just contributing to the dumbing down of culture in this country so shut it, whiners.

Those shows are actually not that bad. If you can ignore the manufactured drama that the "judges" try to inject in the shows there is some real talent on those shows. Can't say the same about shows like The Bachelor or Big Brother or Honey Boo Boo.

Couldn't disagree more. I think they're all bad, but at least there is some small trainwreck like entertainment value to watching the poor, rude and stupid.
But watching essentially bad karaoke with 47 minutes of commercials between is mind-numbingly boring.

This is payback from FOXs coverage of Super Bowl XLV being plastered with X Factor ads. A show that wouldn't premiere until later on during the fall.

Fark off with your talent shows already, we all know that the person will win will be lucky as fark to be even a one hit wonder.

The first weeks of a talent show is exactly what you want... trainwreck of auditions that provide a ton of entertainment. The last couple of weeks showcast a lot of talent, even if it is talent you don't like or appreciate.

Just like my wife doesn't like any sport (Olympics excluded) you don't like any of those talent shows. You're doing the same damn thing: "quit liking what I don't like" but because you're on a sports tab of an internet site that is predominantly male you get a ton more people agreeing with you than disagreeing with you. There is no shame in enjoying both or neither but some people were disapointed and behaved like kids (most of them were kids) when a show that they were waiting for was not shown.

Why the heck so people keep pushing this Cubs/Cardinals rivalry thing? I'm a Cubs fan and never felt any animosity towards the Cardinals and never got a real reason as to why I should hate the Cardinals beyond the Brock-for-Broglio trade. Is it geography? Because the Brewers are a hell of a lot closer. The two don't even really antagonize each other. It's called basically the most amicable rivalry in baseball... IT'S NOT A RIVALRY. FOR GOD'S SAKE, WE SHARED HARRY CARAY.

Seriously. It's not a rivalry. It's just not. The Cubs have a bigger rival in the Brewers, and the Cardinals have a bigger rivalry in the Reds. The Cards and Reds HATE each other, and the Cubs and Brewers get sloppy drunk in each other's ballparks.

ddam: caleb4god: ddam: rugman11: ddam: But I fell asleep during the first hour of x-factor since it was basically a recap of the season so far yet they aired it as a "new" show.

Well, that's kind of the point. It was supposed to be a new show, but because of the rain delay (and ultimate resumption) they only aired half of the new episode for the east coast. When the west coast broadcast came on, they just ran a repeat.

Looks like they're going to air the next episode next Tuesday (since tonight's episode was already going to be preempted for baseball).

That makes sense. But because the repeat of x-factor bore me to sleep I missed my hour a day of PS3 I'm allowed after the kids go to bed.

Hour you're allowed lol. sounds like you should be heading off to bed with the kiddies. how does it feel to have your testicles removed?

It was a joke. I could play as much as I want but then I'll be dead tired the next day at work. Yeah, I could be sitting infront of the TV and watching sports and whatever shows I like and playing PS3 the whole time I'm home but that's not going to make my wife happy and would probably lead to a divorce very soon. Thus I prioritize what's really important in my life and that's spending time with my wife and kids over the sports and games that I like.

Maybe the divorce rate is as high as it is in the US (and the rest of the world) because couples can't compromise. Just because I choose to watch a show I don't particularly over a baseball game (a sport I don't really enjoy) doesn't mean I lost my balls. I'm making my marriage work.

Nah. the divorce rate is high because marriage isn't natural. and yes, you have no balls.

The day of the finale of The Voice, Season 2, Grant Mickelson (Taylor Swift's guitarist) tweeted this:

"RT @LongLiveTS @GrantMickelson Who do you want to win The Voice!? - Someone that everybody will still remember a year from now."

From what little I've heard of it, Taylor's people and Kelly Clarkson's people aren't on the best of terms.

Great Janitor: Yanks_RSJ: Great Janitor: As a person who is not a fan of sports, I do sympathize with the X factor fans, as much as it makes me want to vomit for saying it. I generally hate it when I tune in for American Dad or The Simpsons and it is either not being shown or on delay due to rain or overtime. Honestly, I can not give a rats ass about any sporting event.

Well the unfortunate reality for you is that the networks pay a hefty sum for the rights to broadcast live sporting events, so your little TV programs aren't as important.

If only there were a channel that was nothing but sports where live sporting events could be shown and those of us who don't want to be bothered by it wouldn't be.

And having seen part of a baseball game once by force, it is dull, boring, and baffles me how anyone could say it is more important than anything else on television. Those that love and breathe sports aren't any better than the X Factor fans. Two groups of people screaming that their boring event is better than the other.

How'd you end up in the Sports tab anyway?

Not sure if serious? ...I could understand this if you were born five years ago. Cards/Reds has only heated up within the last few years. Cubs/Cards has always been on fire, with the exception of the last two or three years, since the Cubs have had virtually no expectations from anyone. And the Brewer thing is probably only due to Milwaukee being somewhat new to the NL. Of course I think you downplay it a little, because I know a lot of Cub fans who hate Milwaukee, I mean the Cubs even claim the Brewers stadium as Wrigley north or whatever.

Cardinals fan here.
It's history.
The Brewers have been a NL team for only 30 years.
Cubs/ Cards have been going at it for about 110.
Both teams had about the same success prior to WWII; the Cardinals obviously better since.
We didn't share Harry Caray. He got fired in St. Louis before you picked him up.

I live halfway between St.Louis and Chicago, and I can assure you, it's a rivalry.

If only there were channels with something besides sports where people who wanted to watch reality shows, sitcoms, dramas, game shows, talk shows, movies, documentaries, religious shows, home shopping, and more could be shown.

Because all post season games must be played to completion. Can not be stopped early

Mostly it's a good natured rivalry. You don't need to beat in your rival's heads in order for it to be a little extra that makes people bring their A game. My parent's wedding day is better known as the day of the Sandberg Game. (My mom's family is Cardinals, my father's is blue blood north siders. They watched the game at the reception).

I just feel bad. My dad has NEVER seen his team in the World Series. The Cardinals have been 4 times since I was born and may tack another one on this year. I suppose it is a bit like being a Blues fan...

Exactly. We Cards fans rib the Cubs fans and vice versa. There's no hate, no violence, no anything like that. It's not just the history of the teams, it's also the cities themselves; STL and CHI have also had their own general rivalries over time; not so much anymore (since STL is a shadow of its former self), but they both grew large at about the same time.

There's other rivalries with much more bad blood (Yanks-Sox). The Cards' recent rivalry with the Reds may or may not last; with LaRussa gone and Dusty Baker likely to retire before too many more seasons it will likely die down a bit. It seems less ripe than it did last season. But Cards-Cubs will last until one of the teams no longer exists.

I despise people that care this much about a talent show. It is not the end of the world if you miss the episode, some other show is going to over analyze the result for you anyway.
