Ant: WTF? How the fark does someone make it through medical school without accepting evolution and embryology?

See above remarks by liam76 and sabreWulf07.
Also, having a politically well-connected father and going to state schools probably helps.

As I understand it, he didn't complete a residency after medical school and has never practiced as a physician. In Broun's case, the title "Dr." is pretty much meaningless.

Dancin_In_Anson: It will be interesting to see the Boortz hater's take on this.

Well, since you gave such a nice invitation:

It's interesting how libertarians understand the biological underpinnings of natural selection, but refuse to accept the obvious reality that it's still a shiatty way to operate a society of peers.

I don't hate Boortz because I really don't know anything about him. That said, Boortz seems to want to guarantee that Broun stays in office. How many of Broun's base are going to write in Darwin? Wouldn't that be something a less-enthusiastic voter for the other guy would do? So, Boorts actions would siphon votes away from Broun's opponent, thereby ensuring that Broun (and his stupidity) continues to affect the rest of the nation. So, while I can't hate Boortz (not knowing of him), I don't have a very high opinion of his intelligence. Boortz either wants Broun to stay in office (which is dumb), or Boortz would like Broun to lose his office and thinks this is the way to do it (which is dumb).

To be fair Creationism is about as realistic as the Fair Tax.

Rent is too damn high: SteelDraco: Wait, he's a doctor? How?

How do you get a medical degree without understanding that evolution underlies the principles of all the biological sciences?

Check out Kurt Wise, I think he puts the creationist viewpoint succinctly:
Link

"Although there are scientific reasons for accepting a young earth, I am a young age creationist because that is my understanding of the Scripture. As I shared with my professors years ago when I was in college, if all the evidence in the universe turns against creationism, I would be the first to admit it, but I would still be a creationist because that is what the Word of God seems to indicate."

People like this don't give a fark what science says, if the bible contradicts science, then the science is obviously wrong because the bible is right. Paul Broun probably fully knows the science of evolution and the facts at hand and rejects it for no other reason than "because the bible says so".

I love to ask these people if they take Genesis 9:8−17 equally literally. You know, the passage that says, as an alleged actual recounting of an allegedly actual historical event (not a parable, prophecy, dream, vision, psalm or other poetic literature, or anything else that could rationally be taken as symbolic by one who claims to be a Bible literalist) that that pretty multi-colored glowing arc-shaped thing we see in the Eastern sky during or after a late-afternoon rainshower when the Sun is shining is not caused by white sunlight being diffracted into its component spectrum of colors via refraction through water drops, but is actually God′s bow (as in, and arrow! ― Hebrew: ‶קשת" [‶qesheth", Strong′s H7198], which has no other meaning in any of the 77 times that it appears in 74 verses in the Old Testament than either the type of bow that is a physical weapon that shoots arrows, or something directly related to that!) that He placed in the cloud (nowhere else, like, oh, say, the underside of a CD or other diffraction grating, the spray of a waterfall or garden hose or lawn sprinkler or squirt bottle, the refractions from a prism or crystal chandelier or diamond, etc. etc. etc.) to remind His apparently (by His own admission!) not-so-perfect memory (since perfect memories, by definition, don′t need reminders!) never to flood the Earth again?

Ask them if they honestly believe that.

As I understand it, Broun is currently running unopposed.

Then I take it back! (Turns out I know nothing about two things: 1) Boortz and 2) The race Broun is in.)

So Boortz is participating in an exercise that will bear exactly as much fruit as his FairTax crusade.
