Other than ricin, of course...

Molavian: The gummi vitamins are good.

They cost twice as much as the non-gummi kind. They both have the same number of gummis/pills and they cost the same but the dosage is 2 gummis vs 1 pill.

I only remember to take my vitamins when they're chewable and tasty.

If they would only flavour my happy pills the same way...

I know adults who can't take pills that aren't chewable/tasty. Seriously if you have diabetes and aren't taking your med because you 'can't swallow pills' you need help.

I'm pretty sure normal vitamins were always good for you but if you are taking the special vitamins with 5x the normal amounts of some things- not good for you.

It's hard to believe that people managed to survive before the invention of the multivitamin, or the fish oil pill, or testosterone gels, or whatever else big pharm markets down our throats.

I grew up on a cattle ranch outside of Abilene, TX. There wasn't much time in the morning for breakfast, with ropin' and ridin' to do and all, but there was always time for a big glassful of bull semen. Hot and fresh, right out of Samson's raging red cannon. Put a load of bull spurt in your palm and you can actually see individual sperm thrashing around like electrocuting tadpoles. I always thought of it as living oatmeal, the way it danced on your tongue and tickled your throat with salty aftertaste. Some mornings, they'd all get swimming in one direction and I could actually see my stomach sloshing left and right, like a wave bouncing back and forth under my skin. Sort of tickled.

Forget pharmaceuticals - they're 1 part good to 10,000 parts filler. Just go find an animal - the further you go up the food chain, the more nutritious - and force it to ejaculate into your mouth. Trust me - you'll live a lot longer sucking your cat's boner than you will eating those magic beans.

Since once upon a time I did a lot of vitamin research here are some guidelines that apply to supplements and nutraceuticals..

If you are concerned about taking to much of a daily vitamin, take it every other day or once a month stop taking it for a week. its ok, you can do that. not everything in a pill is good for you so think about if you need it before you take it.

some good ones
fish oil = very good for your brain
Vitamin D =very good unless you get tons of sun in which case you dont need it
Fiber = if you need this you will know,

Some bad ones
iron = too much is bad for you, especially men and since you can get lots from your diet be careful taking it as a supplement, this is a good one to ask your doctor about.
Vitamin E its very good for you but too much can cause health problems so be careful with dosage
if you have cancer or are being treated for cancer be careful not to take lots of antioxidant supplements, they can help protect cells and that would include cancer cells. Once again this is a good thing to talk to a doctor about.

/Dont beleive everything you read, there are no magic pills that give you good health and dont be afraid to ask questions.

when in doubt eat more fruit and vegetables, usually the darker colored the better, a yellow peach is healthier for you than a white peach because the yellow color comes from carotenoids in the fruit which are very good for you. Most natural color in fruit comes from carotenoids.

The medical industrial complex will work overtime to trash and make illegal any herb, natural medicine, OTC, off label or nutritional cure for maladies. No money in curing stuff without a pharmacy racket in the middle.

EVEN THOUGH every single modern medicine, without exception, is derived from or discovered as a derivative of functional aspects of NATURAL PLANT or ANIMAL MATERIAL.

The discover and refine modern medicines using biologically created substances all the time.

take fish oil (offsets all the bad fats we have in our modern diet)
take Vitamin D (impossible to get enough unless you live in a sunny region and get sun every day)

almost every other vitamin/mineral you can get from eating a decent diet.

I started drinking fortified vitamin D milk last year and taking a vitamin D supplement this year during winter season to offset the winter blues. It really takes the edge off during this time of the year.

Previous years it was difficult to get out of bed by Christmas and I was moody all the time.

I believe they are used as delivery mechanisms - they are antibodies which are made from cloned cells so that they bind to whatever it is they were cloned from. They tend to deliver radioisotopes with these.

I also think these are typically generated by mouse spleens, ANIMAL MATERIAL, and then humanized by mucking around with antigens.

Anyway nice try medical industrial complex servant. The system today is perfect, there is no price gouging or conflict of interest. There is nothing wrong with the government medical complexes today. In fact, all we need is higher prices and death panels and we are 100%.

With 15,000 data points, almost any correlation/regression analysis with a non-zero slope is likely to be statistically significant. It doesn't make the results meaningful, however.

What's funny, is the 'good' scientist here is working to make drugs to charge money for life. Pay his salary so he can feed his cats, and you may live. Otherwise, no. And of course these new drugs will be toxic, have massive variations in efficacy and cost huge amounts of money. They will be passed through the FDA, the same thing that allows aspartame, saccharine and even passed things like Thalidomide onto the public. All of this is to destroy familial wealth by making people spend a life's worth of savings in the last 6 months of life. Real Medicare costs in the last two years of life have been rising over time, from 8800 in 1975 to more than 50000 these days. Its a growth industry!

But hey, trust the guy who rakes in money doing this stuff for a living. Dr Wily knows best whats for MegaMan.

I take a multivitamin every day because it makes me feel better than when I don't take it. If it's just a placebo effect, that's fine with me.

2012-10-18 08:17:31 PM
Do regular doctors do lab tests for nutritional deficiency? My (military) doc just did a complete workup for me because of my fatigue & body aches, and he found a severe Vitamin D deficiency & borderline anemia, so he put me on a high dose of Vitamin D and put me back on prenatal vitamins (because of the high iron), and I've noticed that I do feel 1000 times better and more energetic than I did before, but that's because I had a vitamin DEFICIENCY before.

If you have a vitamin/mineral deficiency and you correct it, it makes you healthier. But extra vitamins don't really do much if you don't have that vitamin deficiency in the first place.
