Seattle *may* have a better defense than SF now.

Seattle has yet to win against the division. They need this one badly.

shiat... in the days of the preview function, that wouldn't have accidentally posted.

Anyway, TNF usually wins the cable ratings on Thursdays with somewhere between 5 million and 7 million viewers.

Drew

We noticed awhile back that we didn't have a good place to put certain types of links, including:

- Social content - Twitter, Facebook, Cat Pics, etc

- Discussion topics - either around events, tv shows, or just general questions

- Places where Farkers could post fundraising requests and/or products they make

- other random non-news stuff

For the record, being an adult male in America I fear change and do not support this decision.

Not really true...

Here were the stats before the got the deals done with Time Warner & Brighthouse:

"According to Nielsen this month, the NFL Network was in 61.2 million households.

By way of comparison, ESPN was in 98.2 million homes, the Golf Channel in 83.9 million, NBC Sports Network in 80.9 million, the MLB Network in 70.0 million and the NBA TV in 59.5 million."

From another article: "Time Warner is the nation's fourth-largest pay TV signal provider, with about 12 million homes"

I think Brighthouse is much lower, probably just a few million at the most. So, lets say that added 15 million to NFL Network, so, they'd be at 76 million homes now.

Almost forgot to post this, but based on how I did last week that might have been a good thing.

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers:
Of all the weird NFC West-related stats in this young 2012 season, perhaps none are stranger than this: the Seahawks are a perfect* 4-0* against teams in other divisions, including victories over Dallas, Green Bay*, and New England, but are 0-2 against their fellow former doormats in the West with both losses coming on the road. There's also the question of symmetry in schedule: Seattle opened the season with a loss, ran off two wins in a row, lost, and have now won two again. San Francisco opened with two wins, lost a game, won two more, then lost again. Thus I don't even have to consult the stats to determine that the 49ers will win this game. 24-18

Also, the last 4 losses of the Harbaugh era in SF have been followed by resounding SF wins. They've outscored opponents something like 93-11 when coming off a loss. This is why the Seahawks will win. We've been doing the exact opposite of the conventional/statistical wisdom all season when it comes down to the final result of games. Seahawks 13-10

/with both TDs being scored by the defenses

Also, in his last 4 games against the Seahawks (In other words, since Seattle grew a defense), Frank Gore has been held to 1 TD and something like 2.9 YPC. The defensive gameplan will be to put the game on Alex Smith's arm and count on the best defensive backfield in the league to contain the passing game. I think it'll work out.

@ SFO -7 SEA 38

the annual "what's YOUR deal, bro?" game!

last i checked, the two best defenses in teh NFL in terms of point surrendered....SFO is embarassed after last week's drubbing by NYG and SEA has to be feeling very confident after a better than advertised 4-2 record. My gut is that SFO wins but I like SEA to cover this. I haven't seen enough of Russel Wilson to definitively state if he's playing way above his years, but that seems to be the conclusion by many.

The pride of Hendrix, Eddie Vedder, Heart, Nirvana, and Soundgarden to cover. really torn about this as I think SFO will win......but gotta say cover as 7 seems high.

A Seahawks win indicates that Dallas lost to a stronger opponant, and should the Seahawks win the division it takes their head to head victory out of tiebreaker scenarios involving a Dallas wildcard. It even gives another NFC playoff candidate a conference loss further improving Cowboy playoff odds. So, it's clearly in your self interests if the Seahawks win. Now.... if you don't believe Romo has what it takes to lead his team to the playoffs this year and you're looking forward to Jerry Jones blowing everything up and starting anew, well, maybe schedenfreude is what's left.

What I don't like about Smith is that he can't seem to place a lot of passes. That over throw in the endzone was typical Smith. Wilson seems to have pretty solid placement but he has to throw at odd angles due to his height. I think Smith is ok as back up and I'm sure he'll be around until he's 40 like Hasslbeck, Chandler, Collins...

Well when your QB runs forward into the collapsing pocket on 3rd down, you're going to have a rough play.

It's better than forcing a pass into coverage. Points will be hard to come by tonight, take the 3.

MBTAhole: I went to SF once. I was taken aback by how aggressive the bums are there. At first I thought one of them wanted to go. I was like, 'what's this guy's beef?" I soon realized that that's just the way they all are. That's the only thing I didn't like about that place, though.

I agree. That place and Berkeley accross the bay were farking bum havens. They were everywhere which I think ups the aggression because of the added competition.

I hear ya, but then you get the QB's who think they can outrun anyone and start going sideways holding the ball out ready to throw asking for a fumble. I like QB's who know when to cut their losses and minimize the damage (2 yard loss instead of a 7 yard loss)

The ref had a bad angle. You can see why he initially threw the flag from the replay, but correctly picked it up.

2012-10-18 09:26:19 PM
And THAT is why it's great to have the pro refs back: they're willing to pull up a flag when they realize they screwed up.

There's way more reasons than that why the real refs are better. Just the flow of the game is better entirely. It wasn't just that the fake refs made bad calls...they took forever to make them

Well, like 80% of the talking heads had SF as their NFC champion so if these loses this, combined with their last loss, it's going to drag them down. That said, I think Seattle will get notice. They beat the Pats, Packers, and (if they win) the 49ers so I think the conversation would go from "who's the best in the West" to "who's the best in the N
