Hope he doesn't mind looking for a job.

When will people learn? If your wife looks fat in those pants, it's a bad idea to say "You look fat in those pants," but it's an even worse idea to tell all of your buddies "My wife looks fat in those pants" while she's within earshot.

Maybe Fassel can take his place after this year.

No arguements here.

He obviously didn't have time to see the Minnesota game or the Arizona game.

Doesn't that mean they should be winning?

I thought history proved that some of the stupidest athletes are some of the best athletes...

duke sucks

As a long time Raider fan I wholeheartedly agree. I don't think I have ever seen a more terrible team wear the silver and black. Seems they now have a commitment to idiocy. Every damned game you can count on two things; the Raiders will collapse in the second half and some player will do something so stupid it's pathetic. Callahan is to blame for some of it but for the most part the players are completely undisciplined and out of control. Hope the Raiders do a lot of trading and acquiring for next year, this team is done, finished, utter garbage.

askheaves, or the Tampa Bay game.

I firmly believe I know the exact date and time when the Raiders season went down the crapper. It was exactly when the Raiders announced that Bill Romanowski was going to serve a one-day, non-game suspension for assualting a team-mate and probably ending his career.

That was the unmistakable signal to all the other players that

A) No one is driving this bus -- the coaches have no ability to hold us accountable
B) Only the superstars count, the rest of us aren't worth a cow flop.

How can you get a good team united around each other's fortunes when the coach has no authority and the team-mates are only in it for themselves?

For more information on this topic, see the Portland JailBlazers, or the Washington Redskins.

"...I represent that, and I apologize..."

Does he mean "resent"? Because when it comes to representing, these guys don't even represent the Lollipop Guild.
2003-12-01 12:19:45 PM
Silly me, I thought the player's discipline was at least PARTLY under the thumb of the coach?

Do you see that many penalty filled crapfests under Parcells, Belichick's, or Dungy's watch for example? Not quite.
2003-12-01 12:19:55 PM
Or maybe he does mean "represent," as in he is the emblem of his team's suckiness. Okay, whatever.

Given the average age of a typical Raiders players, it's clear that the coach has it wrong.

The Raiders are not stupid, they've all gone senile.

Instead of testing for steroids in the Raider locker room, what they should be testing for is Alzheimer's disease.

I am not awake. Nevermind.

Time to kill another cliche...

I, for one, welcome our new mistake-filled crapfest overlords!

Didn't the Raiders go to the Superbowl last year? The NFL easily has the most parity among all professional sports. The salary cap coupled with a shared-market revenue is a good thing. At least a different team wins the Superbowl every year.
That said, I was excited for my Vikings early this year. I should've known they'd fade to mediocrity.
2003-12-01 12:26:08 PM
How about them Texans? :)
2003-12-01 12:27:28 PM
Actually, I think the Redskins are worse when it comes to penalties...watching some of the Saints game, I swear every single screen pass was called back because of an illegal man downfield...or illegal motion...and apparently Spurrier doesn't either take the time to explain to his guys what they're farking up, or realize it doesn't work and NOT call the same play that didn't work the last seven times.

The Texans should have won 2 or 3 more games so far. They let the Pats get away last week, and a couple of games they fell apart in the final minutes.

Can you say N.E.Patriots Dynasty?

That's right, play right into their hands, bwaa haa haa haaaa!

Now if only Denver will lose this sunday...

Love to see Raider Nation idiots spend hours putting on their stupid outfits, only to sit through hours in the rain watching the Raiders get pummeled.

Makes 2003 a dream season if you ask me.

You are mistaken, that would be the Falcons!

I thought the headline should`ve read "Raiders suck, John Madden surrenders."

Raiders - Footballs answer to a question no one asked.

Still smells like Ned....
2003-12-01 12:43:52 PM

I concur!

Really, look who the Raiders have at QB. Rick Mirer!

'Nuff said.

-(Seahawk fan still sore we wasted the #2 overall pick on that no-talent overrated Notre Dum hack)
2003-12-01 12:44:30 PM
There are few guilty pleasures in life that can top seeing Al Davis' team circling the drain, with little hope for the immediate future.

Let's see...Rick Mirer as quarterback. HA! Who's his backup...Rob Johnson? That guy is one more concussion away from being considered legally retarded.

Go Broncos.

I think the Bills and Jon Gruden can vouch for his retardedness.

He's the only quarterback I've seen that actually seems to enjoy holding onto the ball for hours and get clobbered.

Not a Blazer fan here... but the Blazers STILL go to the playoffs, year after year (going on 19 or 20 years in a row...IIRC). Even with the trashy criminals they pick up, they still win sometimes.
