If Florida doesn't have limestone that's stupid.

Oh I guess Florida doesn't bother. I think we probably have a state chicken or something though.

I was just arguing on Facebook that chickens are monsterous terrifying Halloween creatures. France does not deserve them.

The local Postal cancels our letters with "THE FLUORESCENT MINERAL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD". My town and those surrounding used to be mining towns. The was even an ore specific to this region named after the town where I live.

A few blocks away is a Mining Tour that often has school buses in the parking lot. Up on the road you can look down through a fence and see an area littered with rocks. School children are given tools and are encouraged to smack rocks to see if they find a colorful sample. It is rather bizarre to watch the children smashing rocks as it looks like they are all doing forced hard labor.

Figured Minnesota would be Hematite, Taconite, or Slate. Only have a state gem stone though (which isn't much of a gem.)

Montana's aren't "state rocks"; they're our seal:

It's also the only flag with its state motto in Spanish: "Oro y Plata" (Gold and silver).

Yep! It's everywhere around my parent's place, so I would hear about it being the state stone all the time in elementary stone.

Good ol' puddingstone/roxbury conglomerate.

I said a chicken, not chicken. I purposely left it that way so I could still be technically correct
