Wow, this getting online and begging for money to make your movie thing got old quick. Now established Hollywood players are doing it. David Fincher has a Kickstarter project, FFS.

Carl is totally a bad ass now. Lori thinks Carl doesn't respect her, when all it really is is that Carl successfully cut the apron strings she was strangling him with. And yes:

Sybarite: Say what you will about Carl, he's totally going to lose his virginity to Beth.

which is totally inappropriate because she's like a million years older than Carl.... total Padme and Anakin shiat.

I'll agree with you if they maintain that for more than the premiere episode.

The creator of "The Book Of The Dead" from the ED trilogy is on board? I didn't know Lovecraft was raised as a zombie.

'Fido' > 'Dayplanner of the Dead'

Sorry, "The Walking Dead" is going to make pretty much any low budget zombie flick look like utter sh*t.

I assume the soundtrack is being done by Amanda Palmer and a bunch of nameless palukahs.

Have to agree with that. There isn't even a big budget zombie movie that compares with the make-up FX in TWD. That's why there's so much down time with little zombie action. It's still a cable TV show. But when when it brings it, there's no comparison.

But FX aren't everything of course. Still, it gets annoying when people already in the business are online begging for funding for their film.

That premiere was all over the place.

I wasn't thrilled about the alien aspect of it. I thought they were doing fine, even when the guy thought he saw aliens but when the little CGI alien spider came out I got a little worried that I should be better spending my time on bronie porn or something.

But I'll stick with it. There's only like 5 tv shows I watch as it is.

Where are we as a society that asking strangers for money is not only acceptable, but encouraged? Just yesterday, a guy I met once 2 years ago asked me to "spread the word" on his new kickstarter project that will fund his move to LA in order to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. When the fark did this become ok?

I think Kickstarter really moved it mainstream. But here on Fark I think people were emboldened by "please help my sick daughter" threads where people poured out support and encouragement. Next thing you know it's "My Aunt has cancer and we'd like to send her on vacation" and eventually "My uncle ricky is broke can you toss him a few bucks". Even the girl who faked her attack and burning of her apartment had a donation link in the thread.

Now every Farker who can make a webpage has some sort of plan to get money.

In the comics version of The Walking Dead, Carl eventually gets jaded and "hardens up", much like his pa.

This first episode of TWD for season three showed the survivors after a presumably long and hard winter, still moving from place to place and struggling to survive day to day. Hell, Carl is opening a can of old dog food to eat within the first five minutes, a'la' "Mad Max". Carl has probably seen a lot of shiat by this point. Seeing his mom and dad on the rocks for so long has probably taken a toll on his 13 year old psyche, as well.

So yes, he's a little badass now.
