Double standard.

I was going to blame Game of Thrones, until I clicked on the article.

Shirtless men on TV? Yes, please.

I just got into Rescue Me. First season, they showed a LOT of female asses and even some blurry closeups on girls nipples. This was on FX Channel. Season 2 all of it was gone. Nipplegate had claimed another victim.

"Men" will get a complex and flee to the gym. Men don't care about some pretty boy on tv and will have another beer, thank you very much.

Well, sort of. FX is a cable channel, so the FCC really has no jurisdiction over them. The only thing that has held cable channels to the relatively same standards as broadcast TV is advertising. Networks have been wary of pushing the envelope out of fear that sponsors would pull their ads, although there have been occasions where some networks are willing to take chances.

Of course after Nipplegate, everyone got their panties in a bunch, and while the FCC couldn't do shiat to them they probably saw their sponsors as more squeamish than before and decided to play it safe.

I have to agree, The buff and hairless chest thing is pretty much the standard gay male porn star look, right? It doesn't seem like that should be the look straight men should be striving for.

I'd like to see more integenerational love represented on TV. That way, we can prove we're open-minded enough. Maybe interspecies love too, with an extra topping of homosexuality, polygamy and polyamory.

Sigh, but we haven't returned to pre Janet Jackson levels. before that fiasco, Etv had been pushing it enough with blurred nudity on Stern and Wild On to the point that I figured basic cable would have nudity by 2010. Alas, Janet ruined everything.

If you're in the 90s. Gay culture is all about hair now, facial hair, body hair. The ideal form is still ridiculously thin and broad shouldered, but its better than nair-town.

SyFy had Wrong Turn 3 on a couple of times. They blurred the chicks knockers but had no problem showing an arrow through the skull and cannibal redneck eating an eyeball.

Now, people who enjoy and probably get off watching cannibal rednecks eating body parts are people too (probably) but I'm stealing my neighbor's cable just like they are. I deserve to see a nice rack. I mean, that girl's parents paid for the enhancements and it probably got her the part of Redneck Cannibal Victim #1.

"Hello, you are here today to audition for Cannibal Victim Number One. It's a small part but it sets the movie's tone. You'll take an arrow through the left breast, struggle and then a second arrow through the back of the skull and out the left eye. Then, you will ay there while the cannibal eats your eye which is sticking out on the arrow. Think you can do it?"

"Well, I was Chainsaw Victim #4 in "House of the Hachetts" and Slaughter Magazine has named me one of the top ten up and coming vicitims for 2013. I think I can bring my own scream and a subtle but convincing death spasm. I think I'm your girl."

"Great. Let's see the knockers. Gotta size 'em up for an arrow."

"Just glad I went to Julliard and mom and dad mortgaged the house for my rack enhancement"

I remember basic cable having a lot of nudity in the 70's. That was back before you had commercials on the movie channels. Not a lot of premium nudity but the movies were believable. Girl's uncle falls ill and her and her sorority sisters have to step in and take over his business (Gas Station, Car wash, Erotic Bakery, Nuclear Missile Assembly Center). Bikinis and topless nudity help them fight off the money grubbers/bad guys who want the property.

Hey, did you know that Cougar Town starts a new season in January on TBS? TBS needs to tell me this every half-inning break, and virtual ads behind the catcher when the game is going on.

/It's this year's version of HIS FATHER IS THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY!!!!
