unlikely: Free Republic and LGF both put out calls for everyone to go skew the polls. I suspect that might have something to do with it.

LGF is down for maintenance so I checked out their twitter feed - it appears as if LGF is heavily in the tank for Obama:

Look at how the recent Gallup poll has Romney increasing his lead - obviously that isn't based on last night's debate,

Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh about that poll

Here's the regional makeup of it.

East Obama 52, Romney 48: O+4
Midwest Obama 52, Romney 48: O+4
South: Romney 61, Obama 39: R+22
West: Obama 53, Romney 47: O+6

Gee Romney is six points ahead in a national poll (which means nothing) based on results in a bunch of states he's likely to win by double digits.

AMAZING!

Where do you find that breakdown? All I ever see on their site is the overview.

Gallup's website here's the link to their poll

Thanks, it's surprising how much the South drags down the overall, but like you said, it's not like Obama was going to win those states anyway.

Mitt wouldn't even talk about Libya today. It's amazing how skillfully Obama diffused that issue. While I'm not with the "Obama is always playing rope-a-dope" crowd, I am impressed with the way Obama is able to take these types of criticisms and turn them back on his opponents.

cirby: Nobodyn0se:
It's so amazing to me how the right wing will straight up admit that a moderator correcting Romney on the facts is being in the bag for Obama, which is a subtle way of saying Obama has the facts and Romney doesn't.

You do realize that the moderator - Candy Crowley - actually admitted that Romney was right? After the debate, when the 70 million or so people who saw the "incorrection" had already tuned out? She even tried to weasel it then, but couldn't actually justify her action.

It's only a "correction" when you're correct.

This is on top of allowing Obama to complain - incorrectly - that he was being shorted on time, and interrupting Romney continually with no basis for doing so.

Obama's pretend-justification for claiming he said the Benghazi attack was terrorism was in reference to a speech he gave about the original 9/11 attack anniversary. No, he didn't say anything like "the Benghazi attack was terrorism." On the other hand, for that whole first two weeks, his entire staff was saying it was all about that silly video. One generic reference to terrorism doesn't undo dozens of "it was the Mohammed video, dammit!"

He said 'no acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation' in a speech that was mostly about the Benghazi attack and also mentioned 9/11. Admittedly, it is ambiguous, but if you listen to the entire speech it would be very disingenuous to claim that Obama does not consider the Benghazi attack as terrorism.

Youtube: President Obama Speaks on the Attack on Benghazi

Where is your link to evidence that Candy Crowley admitted Romney was right?

You know, this may be an overly broad generalization, but typically the guy who is reduced to sitting in the corner screaming a single talking point over and over again isn't considered the winner of a debate. Especially when that talking point contradicts something you said earlier in the same debate. The fact that Romney is polling above single digits is a damning condemnation of the American political system and the intelligence of the average American.

GAT_00: How I know Obama won the debate last night: If you go around furiously pointing out small subsets of one poll, you lost. Every single poll shows a general Obama victory, and that CNN poll? Gave Obama a 7 point victory? Also said that was within the margin of error, so it interviewed at best 200 people. But on every issue you point out except the economy, Romney won also within the margin or error. And since the only issue you've gotten traction on in the last couple of weeks is foreign policy, and you got completely blown out of the water there, I'm thinking a slight edge on one topic in one poll doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot.

CNN also stated quite a few times that their poll over sampled Republicans. I guess they bowed to the "skewed polls" pressure and skewed theirs to placate the right.

How did Romney win on the economy? He said he would give us energy independence by using our energy-- including coal, oil, and natural gas-- here at home. He would lower the cost of gasoline that way.

The only way that works is by prohibiting most fossil fuel export. In essence, he is talking far greater regulation of energy companies than anymajor party presidential candidate I have ever heard. Is he going to call up the CEO of BP and explain that their oil extracted from the Gulf Coast can only be sold in the US, and at lower cost than they could get overseas? Last time that happened to the British, they talked the Kennedy Administration into overthrowing the democratically elected government of Iran and install the Shah.

We export coal, oil and natural gas overseas, often to the countries that supply us with electronics. Does Romney really want a trade war with the Pacific Rim?

I'd imagine that it would force us into extreme isolation-- we reduce energy exports significantly, we violate those free trade agreements he is extolling and hoping to expand in South America.

He handed Obama the perfect weapon to use against him in the third debate: Romney, Mr. Business, knows NOTHING about the commodities markets or global trade. He has no concept of how intertwined it all is, and based on that ignorance is more than capable of destroying our economy and economies around the world

I know that most people don't know squat about this kind of stuff. Those polls are meaningless because of that. But I was sitting in my truck driving from Knoxville TN to Youngstown OH thinking about this He knows absolutely nothing if he thinks he can have an actual "energy policy" like he talks about. It is not possible.

Lligeret: The short version of it is Obama did call it an act of terror that is a fact. Period

Obama's statement in general about "Acts of terror" doesn't absolve the administration's position for the first 15 days after the incident that this was a mob riot in reaction to a youtube video. Whether a mob reaction or a planned attack, BOTH are acts of terror yet when Obama spoke in front of the UN, he essentially apologized for the video, said the US Gov had nothing to do with it and proclaimed that there wasn't anything he could do about it.

The first 2 weeks - Video, Video, Video.

The morning shows were lit up about discussions over the limits of free speech and over here in Farkistan, messers Phillip Francis Queeg and Weaver95 were calling for the film producer to be brought up on treason charges.

That is what we saw play out the last two weeks, as a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well - for as the city outside these walls makes clear, we are a country that has welcomed people of every race and religion. We are home to Muslims who worship across our country. We not only respect the freedom of religion - we have laws that protect individuals from being harmed because of how they look or what they believe. We understand why people take offense to this video because millions of our citizens are among them.

Except the "crude and disgusting video" didn't spark any outrage and had nothing to do with Bengazi. Most people hadn't seen it.

There really is no point to having a discussion with most of the right wingers in this forums (with the notable exceptions of cman and skullcrusher) because if you present facts and data that counter their positions they:

1. Ignore the post and data entirely and/or
2. Refuse to believe it because it comes from a "biased source" i.e. from somehting other than the right wing Wurlitzer and/or
3. Keep repeating the same set of debunked lies in every single thread on the boards, over and over.

Romney doesn't need to say anything, the talk show hosts do it all for him. Rush was raging and screaming this morning about how Obama and Candy were both lying, bullying, filthy human beings. Everything Obama said about Benghazi that wasn't "I commanded the attack personally, ha ha ha kill kill!" was a heathen fib according to Limbaugh. That was on top of how he says the economy is still crashing into the depths, unemployment is shooting up faster than the Space Shuttle, and companies everywhere are firing people and cutting hours because of health care.

I don't know how that man can still be alive, considering all the drugs he takes and the masses of cholesterol in his arteries, you'd think his heart would have said "fark you" and quit by now.

/Rush also said that Democrats want women to be minxes, screwing like minxes, having babies like minxes, and other sexual things related to minxes, and that women are tired of being told to be like minxes and demanding to be given the Republican treatment

There is no conversation to be had on this issue.

The administration's official stance for the first 14 days after the attack was that it was mob violence in reaction to the Innocence of Muslims video. The sources are not left or right leaning but actual videos and public transcripts of the president's comments. If you cant view the videos and read the transcripts and form your own conclusions that is your problem. The rest of the country, congress and the world clearly see a shift around the 14 day mark to acknowledging that this was a planned attack and not just mob violence.

Trying to explain this to a liberal who will support Obama in lockstep is like trying to rationally interact with a 9/11 truther

As a liberal, I agree about the 2 weeks. The Obama administration certainly stated that the terrorist attack was caused by violence incited from the video. As they got more evidence, their stance shifted. As a forensic scientist, I wholeheartedly approve of this. That some people state their assumptions as truth publicly before the evidence is in appalls me (especially so when they do it for political points). It is bad policy to go by assumptions and gut feelings in these situations, especially when it deals with our relationship with another country.
