Heh... It's funny, but as an advertiser, we generally use stock photos for stuff like this, for the most part.

"Real people" are generally too ugly and unless we've got the budget to hire a pro to shoot the images, photos of real people look amateurish.

Having said that... Probably not a good idea to use stock when you're trying to show people that women support you... I'd think I'd sacrifice the quality of image in order to get a more authentic feel to the campaign... Or you know, hire a professional photographer and pick the best looking people in the group.

Ah, interesting. Still, though, I'd think it would be not in their best interest if they wish to continue in that line of business, anyway, or they have some kind of standing career with one photographer or something. Pissing off clients by saying you don't want to be in their campaign probably isn't an option for most of the models, and undoubtedly frowned upon by the agencies who hire them.

....damn you. Ok...earlier I thought you were implying the Romney camp have their own photoshoot using hired models. But if you have a background in advertising...let's say they did choose to attempt ads using actual conservative women. Where would they go to look? What would they be looking for? I'm going to assume they would try to find women who were A. attractive, and B. didn't come across as right-wing and looney (would turn off moderates). Would that even be possible?

I would start by having a meeting with all the women in the organization. Do quick portraits of the ones who volunteer to be used in the campaign and then do a bit of a focus group with people in the target demographic the piece is aimed at. See how they react to each of the women. Find out how the photo makes them feel. What they think about the woman in the photo. Does she look trustworthy? etc.

Pick out one or two of them who did well in the focus group and set up a photo shoot.

Maybe get some quotes from them... maybe. From my experience it's better to leave "quotes" to the copy writers.

Yes...quotes get made up all the time in this world. So do "testimonials" and "first hand experiences".

Well the idea of an endorsement is that somebody at least cares enough about your campaign to be photographed, etc. Using stock photography says they couldn't find 3 women in the entire state to stand with the candidate.
