OnlyM3: Glockenspiel Hero

It fits in well with the Republican "Obama destroyed the space program" meme that you see pop up quite a bit.

I've always found this meme very odd- not because it's wrong (Bush killed the shuttle, not Obama) because most of what Republicans say today can be easily proven wrong

I'm not a republican but go ahead and bust these "myths"
* Obama cancels Moon return project

* In its budget submitted to Congress on February 13, the Obama administration zeroed out funding for NASA's future Mars-exploration missions. The Mars Science Lab Curiosity, currently en route to the Red Planet and the nearly completed small MAVEN orbiter, scheduled for launch in 2013, will be sent, but that's it. No funding has been provided for the Mars probes planned as joint missions in 2016 and 2018 with the European Space Agency, and nothing after that is funded either.

* President Obama's 2011 budget request for NASA cut the agency's Constellation program completely, effectively canceling a five-year, $9 billion effort to build new Orion spacecraft and Ares rockets.
+ Orion was eventually saved by voter backlash, but dumbed down to a useless "emergency escape capsule for the International Space Station"
+ Ares - Our next gen heavy lifter is dead and NO plans exist for any replacement.

* NASA Director Says Muslim Outreach Push 'Deeply Flawed'
Nasa director? Lets be dismissive and ad hominem him as a rich, racist, white guy. oh... he's black

* The head of the Nasa has said Barack Obama told him to make "reaching out to the Muslim world" one of the space agency's top priorities.
Why is he making religious nuts feel warm 'n fuzzy a higher priority than you know.... our National Air and Space priorities? Go ahead and put up your poutrage defense of this stupidity, but we all know if bush had set reaching out to Catholics, Jews, Protestants or Mormons you would have gone apoplectic.

* Who's More Pro-Science, Republicans or Democrats? Another rich, white guy right? Nop ...

Mostly accurate synopsis, but we have to give credit to Obama for keeping (and attempting to encourage) commercial space flight.
Granted most of these programs began under Clinton and Bush, and are mainly being spurred along by the shuttles retirement and lack of replacement, but Obama could have done a lot worse by them.

/Without spacex's double achievements this year, the only other big highlights would be the x-37 landing and curiosity.
/doing what the Soyuz does isn't that big of a deal, but doing it commercially is a massive step forward.

Nailed it. Those most in need of reading an article like this to give proper perspective... will never read it.

Why do either of you assume that was his point in writing it?

Don't forget Red Bull's cutting edge experimental aircraft program.

I was personally intrigued by their alternative metropolitan commuting proposal, but it doesn't seem practical. Also, I'd like to see the peer review on their claim that their proprietary pharmaceutical "gives" users aerofoils.

I'm ok for giving him credit for not further farking up NASA. Yes he could have been even worse, but as is he did enough damage.

Still waiting for the liar i replied to, to bust the "myths" he claimed were so easy to bust.

Guess he lied on both counts.

So.. you're assuming that his point was to write a pointless article? For the lulz? It's not traditionally his style. Frankly, I think he's just taking things too seriously, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in the end it serves no good.

"Voter backlash" is a fact? Or was is parochialism to save government funded jobs in (intentionally) spread out districts?

Obama cancelled Constellation, that's not exactly news. Obviously none of the things cancelled in Constellation (which wasn't hitting its targets, was over budget, threatened to cannibalize other NASA programs) will be addressed in the near future. They are gone forever because Fartbongo murdered our dreams of the future.

These are facts. Nobody can argue against that.

It's just that I'm not sure why you feel the need to point out how not Republican you are while you're acting like a tool in a toolbox.

That didn't stop the liar I was responding to from claiming otherwise, did it. Try to keep up.

Because farks liberals instant reply to anyone criticizing the messiah is calling them a racist republican. Again, try to keep up.

Oh, my bad, thought you were being serious. Sorry if you were being sarcastic. Poe's law and everything. You can never tell if someone's just saying something for effect or really is that big of an asshole.
