Every once in a while you'll see a combined Chinese/Japanese restaurant. I don't get that, given the history of the last hundred years.

You never see combined Korean/Japanese places. At least I haven't.

Ah, a Japanese themed restaurant run by a Vietnamese fellow...

It's about as silly as an Italian restaurant run by someone with a name like Fritz Strauss.

I know some really good Chinese restaurants around Dallas, run by actual Chinese. And the Korean place is run by Koreans. And all the McDonalds' and Popeye's you need to speak spanish to get decent service.

Very one-sided report. My guess is the other side goes something like this: Utter asshat of a customer (his twitter handle is DadyMacPimp, yes really) acts like a prick in the restaurant to a point where the owner asks him to leave. Asshat then tries to leave without paying, and owner stands behind his car so he can't back out and leave before police arrive. Asshat customer then tries to run owner over so owner fires round downwards into car to tell the punk to stop before he kills somebody.

The "victims" look like utter losers; owner employs people and pays taxes. By the time the dust settles owner will get charged with criminal mischief for damaging the guy's car, tops. Daddy who gave asshat the Volvo will pay to get it fixed.

If you charge $6.95 for a serving of 2 cents rice, 20 cents unprepared fish, and 10 cents seaweed that tastes so vile you have to drown it in soy sauce, colored horseradish, and pickled ginger, you should be the one being shot at.
But, hey... you know... sake bombs!

I'm Canadian. I once tried to open an Irish/Scottish/English/German/Chinese/Aboriginal/Scandinavian/Russian/ African restaurant restaurant and I had to quit while I was ahead. All the people applying to be wait staff kept knifing each other in the waiting room on interview day.

I can't imagine ever refusing to pay for a meal I ordered, even if I didn't like it. That's just rude. Unless the food is on fire, has a severed finger in it, dead rat, might make me sick, etc.

The presentation on sushi is gorgeous

But hey, I could also spend $30 on a piece of steak that's worth $5 either over/under-cooked and improperly seasoned and served with .50 cents of french fries and a salad bar that's likely swarming with disgusting grease and fart particles of other patrons, and soup so salty it might as well be used as a sanitizer.

When I was a teen in Saskatchewan my favorite restaurant was an Italian place, run by a Ukrainian man named Kirby. Kirby ran the place into the ground and did the same with the next place he opened. So make of that what you will. Also, my favorite fast food place in Toronto is a Popeye's run entirely by East Indians at Bloor and Dufferin.

Yup, I know that Popeyes very well since we eat there at least once a month. The best Popeyes I have ever been at. The one down here in Centre Mall Hamilton is terrible by comparison.

There is a good reason that a lot of Popeyes in the GTA are owned by the same Muslim Pakistani guy. Until sometime in the last year or so, they were quietly supplied with proper Halal chicken. I gather their supplier no longer did that so they are now using quickly blessed non- hand-killed supposedly Halal chicken. That's why you see so many fundamentalist looking Muslims at Popeyes at Bloor/Dufferin - the quietly (supposedly) Halal chicken.

However, it says the bullet hole is in the trunk. So that's probably not what happened.

Still think they probably ran out on the bill. Guy can say he didn't eat the meal but that could mean he ate 2/3 of it and stopped for whatever reason... We all know that it happens.

There was Johnny McEldoo and McGee and me
And a couple of two or three went on the spree one day
We had a bob or two, which we knew how to blew
And the beer and whiskey flew and we all felt gay
We visited McCann's, Maclaman's, Humpty Dan's
We then went into Swan's, our stomachs for to pack
We ordered out a feed, which indeed, we did need
And we finished it with speed, but we still felt slack

Johnny McEldoo turned as blue as a jew
As a plate of Irish stew he soon put out of sight
He shouted out "Encore!" with a roar for some more
That he'd never felt before such a keen appetite
We ordered eggs and ham, bread and jam, what a cram
But him, we couldn't ram, though we tried our level best
For everthing we brought, cold or hot, mattered not
It went down him like a shot and he still stood the test

He swallowed tripe and lard by the yard, we got scarred
We thought it would go hard when the waiter brought the bill
We told him to give o'er, but he swore he could lower
Twice as much again and more before he had his fill
He nearly supped a trough full of broth says McGragh
"He'll devour the tablecloth if you don't hold 'em in"
When the waiter brought the charge, McEldoo felt so large
He began to shout and barge and his blood went on fire

He began to curse and swear, tear his hair in despair
To finish the affair, called the shop man a liar
The shop man, he through out and no doubt, he did clout
McEldoo he kicked about like an old football
Tattered all his clothes, broke his nose, I suppose
He would have killed him with a few blows in no time at all
Mceldoo began to howl and to growl, by my soul
Through an empty bowl at the shop keepers head
It struck poor Mickey Flynn, took the skin from his chin
An eruction did begin and we all fought and bled
The peelers did arrive, man alive, four or five
At us they made a dive for us all to march away
We paid for all the mate that we ate, stood a trait
And went home to ruminate on the spree that day
