There would need to be a golden shower of memes, and a lemon party of Anon for that to happen.

Ingre's Violin

Refers to the French neoclassical artist Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, who while famous for his paintings was also incredibly talented though less well known for his skill on the violin.

The phrase refers to a person who is known for one talent but is so exceptional at another unrelated talent they could be equally well know for the second if not for the first.
Everyone knows joe is a great baseball player but his work as a photographer is a bit of an Ingre's Violin.

Well ... I just learned something today ... on the internet ... on Fark.

He made a great point near the end; that the more fame/notoriety people get, the more sheltered their interactions with people tend to become. When you are constantly hearing from fans and yes-men about how great you are, its unhealthy.

Might go a long way to explain the outbreak of attention-whore syndrome we find ourselves in.

Wow, that was a really awkward moment right at the end.

Tony: We're really excited that you'll be doing the show again.
Louis, obviously thinking he was referring to this crappy Youtube interview show, with a "not in a million farking years" look on his face: ......................Oh! You mean MY show!

I think Mencia is half German, half Honduran. I don't care so much that he affected the (his words) 'beaner' persona (it's no worse than what Larry the Cable Guy did), but I don't have any interest in watching a verified joke thief.

For those few of you who haven't heard it, here's Carlos Mencia owning himself on the radio. The gold is when Carlos hangs up and one of the hosts has to out him.

Quick question: is Louie CK simply someone of caucasian descent that was born in Mexico, or is he also of mexican descent?

Mencia is about as funny as a getting prostate exam from Andre the Giant, but the fact that he steals those bits is just brutal. At least rip off something halfway decent.

I can check wikipedia, but I remember that Louie was born in Mexico and his dad was Mexican while his mom was Irish. English is his second language.

Real question: Is he actually stealing the material or is the material so elementary that it writes itself? "Stereotypical Olympics" nearly rhymes and the stuff he listed would be the #1 answer on Family Feud for stereotypes of each of the races listed.

That being said, I know he has legitimately stolen more advanced material that a million monkeys couldn't have typed out on a typewriter.

That's actually a really interesting discussion of race and identity mixed in with all of the generally offensive language they throw around.

Yes, that was brilliant. And for some reason, the story about waking up in terror? It was like I was being tickled. Tears and snot pouring down my face, unable to breathe. It hearkened back to Cosby or something - a simple story that seems easy to tell, but a story I can never make that funny. I loved it so much.

Irish-American, I would guess. But if your parents were US citizens, and you were born in Ireland, then you would not be. You would just be American.
