I have noticed that the people who hate unions the most don't actually know anything at all about them.

It's fun when you can use the bad effects of your own causes as reasons to blame the only potential roadblock in your way, so then the people they actually affect will destroy the only thing protecting them from you... for you...

Well you know what socialism teaches about capital, haven't you and I been over this?

that's gonna imply a little more than just "becoming" a socialist.

Fine. Become a revolutionary socialist. Happy?

no, that's a terrible thing. At least I got you to admit it though :)

Nah it's not so bad. We read a lot, then have discussion groups and then get drunk at the local bar!

I have relatives there, most of them are over 300 lbs. of lardass derp.

Check. Like much of Northern, Northwest, and rural Indiana, LaPorte is where the smart kids move away as soon as possible and the only new residents are old people moving to Indiana for a) piece of cheap farmland to run a dumbass hobby farm (which they think will be fun) and/or b) to get away from foreigners and negroes.

I moved away as fast as possible.

Reagan gave the GOP a macho vibe that it's been coasting on for over 20 years. That's why the new "Mitt Don't Take No Shiat" debate persona was such a winner.

So, for the record, everyone realizes that there's not one, monolithic "THE UNION", and that various unions have different levels of involvement in retirement packages (among other things), right? Some of them directly own and/or direct the management of the retirement fund and/or other benefits with the company just supplying the money, others are more on the order of simple negotiators as mentioned above.

Saying "unions don't manage the retirement fund" is like saying "Asians don't fail math classes", it's a generalization and not even a particularly bright or statistically supported one.

The funny thing is if things were the way Romney wants them now back when this guy first started working on skyscrapers he would have never gotten a job working on them. All of those antennas that he is so proud of putting up would have been put up by cheap labor imported from China or India.

It's not so much that he supports the opposition. It's more that he supports anti-Americanism. As has been demonstrated numerous times before, the Republicanist Party holds anti-Americanism as one of its core principles. Additionally, why would somebody choose to vote for a "conservative" seeing as there has never, in the history of mankind, been a successful conservative civilization? Why would you vote for something that you know is a) anti-American and b) guaranteed to fail? Is it just team mentality? Is it a mental disorder? Should these anti-Americans be allowed to participate in our society? Or should we treat them as enemies of the American public?

Of course that's not useless, which is why Republicans voted to decrease spending on that. Useless spending is no-bid contracts for campaign contributors to build very expensive equipment the Pentagon does not want.
