Whether to eat panda or not was a fairly black-and-white issue back then.

Also, subby, I believe Jesus was eating bronto burgers at the last supper. At that point, the Earth was approximately 4,000 years old, and the dinosaurs were at the peak of their existence.

Just so long as it isn't a "fark you" to sport hunters, who actually *INCREASE* the populations of species that they hunt, unlike market and subsistence hunters.

And why wouldn't they? Decent source of meat and clothing.

Slightly off topic, but are antiomnivorists who don't eat flesh on the grounds of cruelty done by factory farming ok with hunting? The animal leads a perfectly free and natural life after all.

Not just that, but generally they are prey animals for other carnivores anyway. That means that you are *SUPPOSED* to prey on them. They evolved that way.

Of course. If we were not supposed to eat them, they wouldn't be made out of food.

And you still had to kill an animal for your food.

Hence the qualification. Animals are food, it's how they get from womb to plate that I would see any real objection to.

There's the ones who are way out there and say no person should ever kill an animal. But most of them, in my experience, say that while many animals are eaten, they don't have to be the one eating it.

Put it this way. A kid in 6th grade named Wimpy McTarget who's skinny with thick glasses and minor speech impediment is going to get beat up. But I don't have to be the one beating him up, and I don't have to say that it's okay.

If you feel you have to restrict to this mythical creature, the vegetarian whose only reason is factory farming, then they would probably be okay with eating wild game. But I've never met one of those.

How is this news? I challenge science to find something that humans haven't shoveled into their mouths at some point in history.

They do exist, or at least that's at the core of their argument for the ones I have come across. Surely you've met at least one person who became antiomnivorous after seeing abbatoir footage or descriptions of how animals at factory farms are treated?

I met ones who stopped eating meat from factory farms and only things like free range chicken or what have you. And some who saw what it looks like to slaughter an animal and couldn't eat meat any more. But none that credit being vegetarian to factory farm conditions.

But this is sort of getting away from my point. Some people see animals as food, so we eat them. Others don't. And I haven't yet met anyone that's eaten panda, but I'd try it if they weren't endangered.
