And the reason they don't want him in the sales department is probably because they know he'll be underutilized; he's a credible reporter, after all, so he should probably be working the beat.

Tom Brady of 7 or 8 years ago when he got the last of those rings = not over-rated. Tom Brady 2012 = slightly over-rated.

Of course, if the Pats still had a D, people wouldn't consider Brady overrated. He also wouldn't be the starting QB of a 3-3 team.

2012-10-16 08:16:46 AM
Right. He's overrated.

Now excuse him while he impregnates multiple supermodels, make millions and millions of dollars, win 3 superbowl rings and not even be the person who makes the most money in his household.

Brady is actually better at QB since he's been losing superbowls than when he won superbowls, and the reason is simply that contributing to the team and being the centerpiece of a team gets you different results, brady usually wasn't the real MVP of those superbowl wins

That's my biggest complaint about fan-voted Super Bowl MVPs. It always goes to an offensive player, and usually the winning QB. Brady wasn't the MVP of the Pats 3 Super Bowl wins, I'd say 2 go to the defense, and at least one should go to Vinatieri. Eli should also not be a 2 time SB MVP. Justin Tuck deserves at least 1 of them...

He is a top tier QB and there arent too many of those.

Once you have someone as one of the top 5-6 quarterbacks playing, the rest is just picking nits. I think most of the hate is a combination of jealousy over his domestic situation and the fact that Patriots organization is tremendously douchy, particularly Belicheck.

Agree 100%. Ty Law INT and run back for a TD doesn't happen, who knows if the Pats win in 2001?

If only to say that he's getting older so naturally his performance is falling off. But they'll also point out that the Pats should be preparing for that.

Most of what I've heard is pointed at the secondary and a defensive co-ordinator that came from some podunk school.

I can't judge QBs based on SB rings, because that would be like saying that Hostetler or Dilfer were better than Dan Marino.

Orgasmatron138: I can't judge QBs based on SB rings, because that would be like saying that Hostetler or Dilfer were better than Dan Marino.

I can partially judge. No, those guys weren't better than Marino, but they were still good quarterbacks. Not great quarterbacks, not Hall of Fame quarterbacks, but guys who could move the ball, not make mistakes and win games as long as they had a solid defense. There are a lot of QBs in the league who couldn't take that epic Ravens Defense to the Superbowl like Dilfer did. Ok, maybe Matt Stover should get most of the credit, but Dilfer still had to get the ball to the 30 yard line.

Back to the subject at hand, Brady's still a top 5 QB any way you look at it. His recieving corps consists of little Wes Welker and a beat up Rob Gronkowski and he's still putting up good numbers. And if you look at the guys generally regarded as the top QBs in the league (Brady, the Mannings, Brees, Rogers, Rapesburger) they're a combined 16-18. Elite QBs still need a solid O-line, someone to throw to, and a good defense to back them up.

And Brandon Lloyd. And Aaron Hernandez. Brady's good, but let's not go pretending he has no weapons.

This is the the truth. A 'caller Bob' is a sketchy proposition at best; 'caller Bob from 815 area code town' is always a sports talk radio trainwreck.

The Patriots major problem is play calling, you can find an example of it late in every game they've lost. They recover a fumble on the other 25 with a minute to go and do two half-hearted passes and then get in the middle for the kick. Sunday they are picking up 4.5 yards every run in a rainy game and then decide to pass on 3rd down. Painful.

Patriots YPC: 3.3

/the short passing game was far more effective

The problem is that's not how it works in real life. And without the threat of the pass, you have no run game.

I'm not saying run it every down obviously. But having Brady throw the most passes he's ever thrown in a game and have him do it in the rain at a place like Seattle's field is just idiotic when you're getting that much production from the run.
