Merkel: Why don't you wear shoes Fozzopoulos?
Fozzopoulos: Because your crippling austerity measures have left me penniless and unable to afford consumer goods. Wocka Wocka Wocka!

Merkel: If you'd paid your damn taxes and not tried to suck off the teat of the state, those measures wouldn't have been necessary.

Seriously, hearing Greeks complain about austerity measures reminds me of the littlebopper when I tell him he has to go clean his room. All of a sudden, necessary chores are "unfair". Well, if you had kept it in order in the first place, you wouldn't have such a mess to clean up.

That is probably the most succinct and trenchant observation of The Muppets that I've ever seen. In the abstract, they shouldn't be anywhere near as good as they actually are.

You've got a point there. Why the f**k does "Elmo's Song" make octegenarians and twenty-something hipsters alike piss their pants laughing? It's just stupid - but it makes me laugh, too.

In some way, yes :

levillagedesnrv.20minutes-blogs.fr

Yes, this is former French president François Mitterrand, as Kermitterand.

If you can guess who played "Miss Piggy"....

Because I can't this comment on the appropriate thread I'll leave it here.

Either make a thread totalfark or don't.

Half-ass measures like the above Clinton thread are neither desired nor appreciated by liters.

Merkel seems to be missing the proper context for British puppetry.

But austerity never works during a downturn. Just ask Estonia.

Statler and Waldorf were the show's main line to sanity and reality. Many of their lines were apt and precise criticism, if amusing, of the Muppet Show. In the meta sense, they were as important an act as Kermit or Gonzo or Piggy or Fonzy. Many of their lines could be used anywhere, and seeing their reaction was always a high point of the Muppet Show.

I think the most upsetting thing is calling Cameron witty. I've watched W&S, and he's now W&S.

Never mind, when I first clicked on the above Clinton thread it read something to the effect that it was a TF thread that was "too good" not to share and that liters could read the comments but not comment themselves.

A serious caffeine shortage in combination with that information set off that rant.

And now it's just a normal thread so I feel rather foolish.

Oh, in the interest of further scarring, the French version:

i158.photobucket.com

Which features Commandant Sylvestre and Commandant Sylvestre advising George Bush Jr, who is apparently played by a puppet of Jeb Bush.

The obsession of this show with Stallone is disturbing to say the least (warning, contains the word fark)
