I guess it's nothing but red wine and chocolate for dinner this week.

I call fraud!

I checked the list of recalled peanutty foods and a lot of them are "organic".

If they're really organic, then they can't be contaminated with Salmonella, and they can't be processed in the same plant as regular non-organic foods.

Right?
Right?

Oh, BTW, why haven't Ric Romero and his ilk said anything about the organic connection? If there were any GMO peanuts in the batch, that would've been the lead story, with no mention of non-GMO peanuts ivolved at all.

Right?

All of the illnesses that have been investigated are related to the peanut butter products that are from the one plant,"

One plant? I had no idea one plant produced so many peanuts! You'd think there'd be some kind of peanut surplus by now.

bacteria doesn't grow in peanut butter. so where is the salmonella coming from? sounds like yet another BS 'foodborne illness' outbreak to drive yet another company out of business, and cause further regulation for the rest of them.

I'll say that's one of the nice features of the "Store discount card", you can possibly contacted if something you purchased has been recalled. I know Wegmans does automated phone calls to Shoppers Club card customers.

Because there's no processing going on between the picking of the peanuts and the jar of peanut butter you get in the store? And this is evidence, to you, of the need to deregulate?

Wait ... you're trolling, right?

As someone who is both immunocompromised and poor because I'm not allowed to work because I'm farking immunocompromised, can I please have some god damned irradiated farking peanut butter, already?

The peanut butter already gets xrayed for the presence of things that aren't supposed to be there at the factory. Let's leave it in the machine so I don't DIE when I choose peanuts because the nasty things are cheap protein I can afford.

Last time Peter Pan peanut butter was affected, my wife (then my gf) ate some of it, got INCREDIBLY sick for a week. She won't touch that stuff anymore.

We've been buying Costco's peanut butter for several years that was recalled and supposedly this recall is for products going back quite a number of years. I'd go through a jar a week (I'm vegetarian, what can I do . . .).

Anyhow, my mom has kept all of our receipts and is getting trying to get a refund for every single one. She's good at things like that.

I've strangely had stomach pains all this last week, but I don't think there's a connection. I don't know why I would just get sick now after eating this stuff for years.

What's weird is that it was really good-tasting, high end peanut butter. Made with Valencia peanuts, which I guess is somehow good. Nothing else added. Just roasted, salted peanuts. I liked it. It almost had a little tang to it. Now we have some horrible Jif Natural replacement which tastes so bland. It's also made with added sugar and palm oil, even though it's natural.

Time to get the blender out and make some homemade almond butter (which I do from time time). I actually prefer almond butter, but every store brand I've had has sold me rancid product at one point or another. In fact Costco has been carrying rancid almond butter for the last year or so. We buy it every once in a while to see if they've improved it, but they haven't. Maranatha is the company that makes it. I've e-mailed them and never gotten a response.

So I make my own now. But it puts a lot of strain on the blender (gets very hot and noisy). And it's a Blendtec with the special twister jar for thicker items, just in case someone was going to suggest I get a better one. It works, but it's just a bit of a pain.

Ya know what would make this country much better? Get rid of all these regulations on business. They just slow the job creators down.

You go through a jar a week? I just have 2 questions for you..... are you female and do you perhaps own a dog?

/Sorry, couldn't resist. I love peanut butter too but stay too broke to go through *that* much.
