Lemme guess... the animated shows were of too high a quality, and DC can't have anything out there with their logo on it that people will enjoy?

I thought the first episode of The Arrow was pretty good.

So, what, is it Smallville 2 or or they treading different ground this time?

I never watched Smallville.

The Green Lantern show kind of sucked. They tried to make it like The Clone Wars, but without Star Wars. Green Lantern, much like Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four, is hard to write a movie or show for, it just doesn't come across the medium very well.

YMMV, but I definitely got the same bland Smallvillean taste in my mouth from that first Arrow episode. It struck me as being Generic Action Hero: The Series.

Yes and no. I believe the writers said it's not linked in any way to the universe that Smallville is in, and there are no super-powered people here--just years of regimented training.

And Deathstroke (or, at least his mask) is in one of the first scenes, so Arrow has that going for it...

Smallville would have done nothing but strengthen that opinion.

Can't imagine DC would want the shows off the air through the Christmas shopping season.
The CW has been showing Iron Man and Justice League Unlimited in the same time slot.

It wasn't bad but I was hoping for something more interesting and less a rehash of their usual soap opera disguised as action. It's one episode in and there's already a love triangle and the writing is just ok. And like all CW's shows it looks like it's low budget.

After the first episode I'd say it has potential but I'm worried that it looks a lot like a replacement for Smallvile.

As a "geeky dad" I have seen every episode of the GL series and some of the young justice with my son I liked them. I am disappoint that DC Nation has been pulled, in favor of, I'm sure, more unintelligible acid-trippish toons.

2012-10-15 09:39:51 AM
I was farking pissed on Saturday. I normally shrug off everything related to media, but fark, the series had just returned and it's in the middle of some epic storyline (i.e: true epic, not the Internet version of epic) and they cancel it less than 24 before it airs? FARK THAT!!

It's funny though, since the episode still showed up on iTunes and guess what?

It's been on the Top 5 for the last 2 days ;D It even got as high as #2 earlier today, but it's now back at #4.

i.imgur.com

So methinks WB is going to tell CN to go fark themselves and keep selling the show on iTunes lol. Hey, it's instant money for them.

Also, it wasn't DC's decision, but CN, so shut it.

I'm never a super fan of the 'super hero show with no super heroes' when it's due to lackluster writing and budgets.

Or because the IP you're buying can't stand on his own. Green arrow only makes sense in a world with supers. His accuracy, weapons, and lack of getting instagibbed by guns make NO sense in a 'gritty and realistic' world.

Read more Mike Grell's Green Arrow.

Look up The Longbow Hunters. Trust me, GA does work in a gritty realistic world.

I'm still not sure why either were cancelled so unceremoniously. The shows were easily performing well enough to get a final season, and the casts were ridiculous.

I wonder what made them decide to pull the shows? I know CN has been going downhill in the past couple of years, and not just because I'm older, with stuff like getting lego shows and those dreadful shows that use actors and not cartoons but I was actually found Young Justice to be a really good show that could appeal to both the young and the old.

The shows are still airing, just not on CN. They want to play games with the fans ala ScyFy? Fine. I have other choices. Oh look! Somebody just left this ripped copy of the new eps just laying around the web! Thank you, anonymous seeder!

Regular Show and Adventure Time are completely different and really targeted to different people. Regular Show is the closest active show to Rocko's Modern Life on the subversive humor scale

apparently CN thinks they are SyFy now... spend lots of budget on a show, under promote it, wait until it has a loyal following, then abruptly cancel it mid season, then pick it up randomly with a rushed partial season/finale that you don't tell anyone about.

I can't farking forgive CN for running through all of the second season of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated's second season, unpromoted, at 1:00 pm, in ONE WEEK IN AUGUST. That was the one Scooby Doo show I really liked.

TFA has no information about why -- or even whether -- the show is officially cancelled. It's just a followup to another article on the same site, which also has no information.

Perhaps they didn't really learn their lesson about pissing off channel fans with CN Real.

On TVTropes under Screwed by the Network, Cartoon Network has a very frequent appearance.

That's because there's NO explanation as to why they cancelled/postponed the shows/block.

Not even the shows producers know about it!!!

My son is now a huge GL fan because of that show. I was wondering why we were missing the new episode on Saturday and instead the DVR recorded Johnny Test, or whatever that stupid show is named.

i liked the GL Animated a lot, too! it was a fun show to watch and the story was actually well done. WTH...

Most of those old shows have been getting released on DVD. I currently have the entire series of Jack and PPG (got the entire 10 seasons + movies for 60 bucks), and the first seasons of johnny bravo and dexter. I say its for my future children, but lets face it them won't exist for a while >.>

And you have no clue how pissed my wife was when we sat down to watch GL/YJ saturday night and both DVRed episodes showed how to drain your dragon instead.

She's going to be super mad about the shows being cancelled

I liked this, and the Teen Titan bits. The Animal Man ones were OK, but obvious, and the Plastic Man one had a chuckle, but a waste of a good opportunity.

Don't start with me on those Aardman style animated ones.

Both shows the animation is ugly and it feels like they were done by armatures or farking hipsters.

The Regular Show's bro style humor often falls flat and seems to pass right by me. Granted I've only watched maybe a 1/2 dozen of these so maybe the episodes were badly done, but I just left feeling like the jokes were stale and limited.

As for Adventure Time I feel like I would have to be tripping balls on acid to like this low budget ugly piece of shiat. It makes me want to go find the corporate headquarters of CN and punch people in the face until I'm arrested or I manage to hit every one of them.
