This is a troll, right? I've spotted a troll. Because no one but the profoundly retarded would think that immunizing against one form of STD, which leads to horrendous cancer, is going to cause young girls to suddenly go "well, I guess I better go have sex now!"

I'm going to just decide in my mind that you're a troll. Because if not, you're so remarkably idiotic that you should euthanize yourself before you breed. So, troll it is.

Why would it anyway? Because some crazy fundamentalists stole the mic and voiced their ridiculous concern? A retort to those people is no better than those people making their dumb statement to begin with. Just something to think about...

thinking different than someone who's extremely dumb doesn't make you smart, it makes you average. the smarter folks don't generally take the time to give a shiat about what the monkeys say.

I hope it does. What the fark is the point of trying to reassure the most backwards idiots of this country with things they won't recognize, like "facts"?
This is a classic case of begging the question. Painting the lack of correlation between vaccination and promiscuity, however obvious, is basically conceding that there's something wrong with sex to begin with. WTF is wrong with sex? There's something wrong with being stupid, like not protecting yourself against diseases.

Moms and dads:

Don't be stupid, get your daughters (and sons) vaccinated before they become sexually active. Get the 3 dose series of Gardasil. Not only does it protect against cervical cancer in women, it will also stop the pesky genital warts in males and females.

The number one risk factor for cervical cancer, according to NIH: Not getting the HPV vaccine.

That's EXACTLY what one of the Catholic School Boards arount these parts said. They would definitely not endorse the vaccinations because GAWD, JESUS, POPE, MORALITY whatever.

People, if you are truly compassionate and care about society, please don't send your kids to Catholic school, even if you are under the impression that they are better because they supposedly have higher standards, better discipline and wear those cute uniforms (all marketing bullshiat IMHO).

Why is this so hard for people to understand? No, people will not necessarily have sex because they had vaccinations. But this undoubtedly will be seen at least by a few people as legitimizing sexual activity that their parents do not condone. The problem is not that all children will grow up learning this, because most will never know or care. The problem is the claim that a disease can only be spread sexually, followed by the widespread vaccinations of little girls for said disease. Way to teach your kids responsibility. Responsibility should be about doing the right thing on a consistent basis, not doing one preventive measure and then feeling protected from the consequences of irresponsibility.

I met a girl who was told she would never have children and was also taking birth control pills as a medication. As a result, she had sex with many men, no condom or anything. Was surprised when she got pregnant. Twice. Why did she have sex with a bunch of men? She abdicated her responsibility for her own body, even though her values and her family's values include such responsibility and even abstinence. She will not be vaccinating her daughters for HPV.

Parents make decisions all the time about what is good for their children. Let them decide whether their children should be vaccinated for sexually transmitted diseases, instead of putting the power in the hands of drug company lobbyists.

BTW, HPV is routinely over-reported and clinicians regularly use scare tactics by overdiagnosing and by exaggerating the risks and effects.

Texas Scholastic Moving and Talking Pictures Present:
Dottie and Dollie in Hey HPV Hey!

Dottie: Hey Dollie, wait up. Where are you going? Jesus Class?

Dollie: No. I have to get a vacination. It's to prevent HPV. That's a sex disease.

Dottie: My Jesus won't let me get vaccinated. Well, I'll pray for your soul but you know you are doomed to the fiery pits of Hell, sinner.

Dollie: I know. I'll miss out on the wonderful treasures of Heaven.

Dottie: More for me, I guess. See ya.

(Later)

Dottie: What a wonderful Jesus class that was. I wish I could go to another but it's time for my ancient history class. We're studying the Ark and how just one family managed to repopulate the world and not turn it in to a giant West Virginia. Oh hello, Dollie. How was your vaccination?

Dollie: I got the shot to prevent my sexual diseases. Something prayer and my body can already prevent if legitimate. Since then, I have had unprotected sex with three men, two boys who are now men and a donkey.

Dottie: It's only been an hour since we last met, Dollie.

Dollie: I know. It would have been four men but I put my underwear back on after number three. Have you seen the janitor? I have the strange need to satisfy him and his mop handle.

Dottie: I think that vaccine has transformed you in to a tool of the devil, Dollie. Maybe prayer can help. I can call some people from my prayer circle.

Dollie: Yes. You guys can circle around me and pray. I'll sex the guys. Can you hold a large martini glass? I'll need it to hold all the...

Dottie: On second thought, we'll pray for you from a distance.

Dollie: Do you like my tramp stamp. I got it free with every vaccination. If you stare at it carefully, it spells out "I Love the Devil".

Dottie: Ah! (Runs Away)

Announcer: Don't let this happen to your daughters. Don't let the liberal judicial activists for sex upon them! Pray and vote!

Dollie: Mister Announcer! Can I service you sexually? It's been five minutes since my last sexual congress and I need more now.

Announcer: I am being compelled. Pray for me!

Thankfully not all Catholic boards are populated by idiots. My kids attend a southern Ontario Catholic school and they're getting the HPV vaccine next week, for free. Not a whiff of controversy, protest, etc.

Look - society needs dirty whores who will service as many men as possible. It's the only way to maintain the double standard. There need to be dirty girls out there to "take care of" guys when they are young and sowing their wild oats. We don't want too many though, because there still needs to be a large pool of attractive virgins for us to take home to mom when we're ready to settle down. Nobody wants to marry a slut.

For the folks saying that we shouldn't require that young women (and men) get the vaccine, there's a long history of telling everyone that they don't have a choice about getting vaccinations and medical treatments. That's why we don't have to worry about measles, smallpox, whooping cough, and others. There's a pretty certain link between HPV and cervical cancer. So the people in charge have to choose between letting lots of women get cancer, judging the sex lives of strangers and calling them all worthless sluts for sleeping with a guy who was carrying it (so who cares if they get cancer?), and giving people the vaccine.

Which seems like the thing a good person would choose?

That's why we don't have to worry about measles, smallpox, whooping cough, and others. There's a pretty certain link between HPV and cervical cancer. So the people in charge have to choose between letting lots of women get cancer, judging the sex lives of strangers and calling them all worthless sluts for sleeping with a guy who was carrying it (so who cares if they get cancer?), and giving people the vaccine.

Which seems like the thing a good person would choose?

Also, they remove the ability of people who "reform" to have a chance at the "normal" marriage that they have.

Like, say a man sows his wild oats in his early twenties, then finds Jesus and wants to marry a virgin of his very own. If he's carrying the HPV, and she (like a good Christian leg-closer) doesn't have the vaccine, he's just handed her a shortened lifespan with some very uncomfortable side-effects.

Don't they care about forgiveness and redemption?

Dr Dreidel: Don't they care about forgiveness and redemption?

No.

The entire point is to judge and punish. Go to a Wednesday night Bible study group at a fundamentalist church sometime, and you'll find a bunch of women getting off on placing each other into the social pecking order over clothing, how well they control their husbands, how well they control their kids, homemaking skills, what they watch on TV, or anything else they can find to judge each other with.

Broktun: Moms and dads:

Don't be stupid, get your daughters (and sons) vaccinated before they become sexually active. Get the 3 dose series of Gardasil. Not only does it protect against cervical cancer in women, it will also stop the pesky genital warts in males and females.

The number one risk factor for cervical cancer, according to NIH: Not getting the HPV vaccine.

Pretty much THIS.

I have this story I like to tell about my misspent youth involving a two-week fling with a gorgeous, but batshiat insane bisexual drag queen who intentionally burned holes in his jacket with a blowtorch in my living room and brought a loaded rifle to my apartment and threatened to kill the other guy I was dating (which, for obvious reasons, was the last time he was invited to my apartment). He ended up giving several of my friends HPV, but I didn't get it because I insisted on using condoms.

Earlier this year, one of those friends woke up hemorrhaging from her vagina and nearly bled to death in the ER. She had emergency surgery to stop the bleeding, and they diagnosed her with an aggressive form of cervical cancer. She needed a hysterectomy ASAP, but they couldn't do it until she recovered from the first surgery. She almost bled to death again a week later, and ended up having to stay in the hospital on bed rest to make sure she lived long enough to get that hysterectomy. She's doing much better now, and they're pretty sure they got all the cancer, but I'm pretty sure she and her husband and children would have preferred to skip that episode entirely.

My story doesn't seem that funny anymore.

//no, of course I can't prove she got cancer because of the HPV, but if you don't want to vaccinate your daughter, consider which is worse: the possibility that she'll have unprotected sex as a teenager, or the possibility that she'll bleed to death from her crotch in front of her husband and children at the age of 40 and need a hysterectomy to save her life.
