(Talking Points Memo)   Obama may play the Indians to New York's Tea Party Four. I don't quite get the metaphor either, but let's run with it   (2012.talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 28

There were actually many extremely conservative republicans elected to purple and even fairly blue districts in 2010. That won't hold, it worked in a wave year, but once moderate voters got a look at these guys in action they are gonna be gone

It is their fault, they were elected on the premise of Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! and the only legislation we got was penis, vagina, and rape sprinkled with a little bit of Muslims are evil so ban sharia law.

from the article: Obama's popularity in the state will result in more voters casting a ballot for Democrats this year.

Funny. In another article, 47% of people in NY claim they are worse off than 4 years ago which is bad news....for 0bama.

I'll do my part to try to oust Chris Gibson especially since he won what was then New York's 20th Congressional District through negative, lying ads. It's actually sad and funny. It seems the only thing Gibson and his supporters have is "Schreibman is lying," but then don't mention what the so-called lies that really don't exist are. Schreibman has correctly pointed out that Gibson voted for the first Ryan plan. Gibson's response is "but I voted against the second one." I believe his stated reason was it lacked cuts to military spending. However, I do not believe for a nanosecond that is the real reason. New York was losing two seats in the House, and because of our lovely legislature procrastinating and not doing their jobs*, he had no idea what his new district would look like, so he voted against the second one because of that reason.

I've already donated $25 to Schreibman's campaign. I probably should do so again.

*The New York State Legislature didn't even bother with the Congressional maps despite the state constitution explicitly giving them power over redistricting. They let a federal court draw the map, which is probably a good thing as the map looks like a decent one that while not perfect, isn't really gerrymandered. Heck, my one complaint is that Congressman Tonko will no longer officially represent my county. (It's actually the second time he's lost my county as part of his district due to redistricting. The first one was when he was an Assemblyman).

So what nation started freaking 10 hexes away from me? Washington DC.

Soon as I get trebuchets up I'm taking him out.

Tonko will be fine, and you should be able to help get another democrat in Congress.

But yeah, I'm gonna miss being represented by one of the House's better liberals myself- they redistricted my congressman (Brad Miller) in with another liberal, and he retired rather than go through the primary. Now I'm stuck with a conservative republican who's been around since 1985 and isn't going anywhere. Well, until he dies, and considering his health these past few years, that probably won't be long. I don't think he'll ever retire.

I know Tonko will be fine, and there was a reason I said "officially represent my county." As for actually getting Schreibman in, while I'll try by donating to his campaign and voting for him, I don't know whether it is likely to occur. There have been only three polls. One from Siena that had Gibson with a 16 point lead, one Democratic Poll that had Schreibman within 2 points of Gibson, and a Republican poll that had Gibson up by 11 points.
