When they start doing that in jails and prisons it should prove very amusing.

Why does it seem like every group with the word "Family" in the title is populated by bigoted asshats?

Association leaders, in return, have gone on the offensive, calling the law center a hate group for oppressing Christian students and claiming its aim is to shut down groups that oppose homosexuality.

"You're a hate group."

"Nuh-uh, you are!"

"Anti-bullying legislation is exactly the same," Mr. Fischer said. "It's just another thinly veiled attempt to promote the homosexual agenda. No one is in favor of anyone getting bullied for any reason, but these anti-bullying policies become a mechanism for punishing Christian students who believe that homosexual behavior is not something that should be normalized."

There's a book I've read, it's fairly old, written about 2,000 years ago. There's this guy in it who talks about the importance of loving all people, and not judging them. I don't think Mr. Bryan Fischer of the American "family" association would like him very much.

Good book, though, I'd recommend it highly.

Nothing is shouted louder or more repeatedly than that which is wrong.

/the entire logic behind a 'family association' is retarded. "Run your family by our rules!"

Parents who are on the American Family Association e-mail list were encouraged to keep their children home on that day and to call school administrators to tell them why.

"Little Johnny won't be at school today because..."

Nope, I can't come up with anything that doesn't sound completely ridiculous.

Folks, Old B-Rye Fischer has his own headline collection on Fark. This is how immoral and abusive this guy is--the very definition of a hate artist. These headlines aren't exaggerations. In fact, it would be difficult to exaggerate what he actually openly admits.

Dear American Family Association

Please go Eat A DICK!

We have a branch of these twat waffles trying to get books (Moby Dick, Diary of Anne Frank, etc) pulled out of the public schools here some years ago. Book burners.
Nice
There was some other group in history that like to burn books too.......

Or, it's there to try and help prevent your precious little Christian snowflakes from beating the shiat out of gay students at school, because you spend 3 hours a night telling them how they should beat the shiat out of any gay students they see at school. You farking small, piece of shiat excuse for a human being.

Unfortunately, they agree. Not being allowed to beat the shiat out of gay students at their leisure is "promoting the gay agenda" and a violation of their rights. I wish I was kidding but that's how ugly it's gotten.

"Mix it up day" ought to be the day where everyone scours their neighborhood for conservative GOPers, capture them, drag them through the streets to their local park, and hang them from the trees.

You have to wonder about how a group like the American Family Association considers itself Christian when it breaks one of the basic tenets of Christianity, and lies like a snake in the Garden of Eden to promote it's cause. Christian Dominionism and Exceptionalism, in my opinion, are the Anti-Christ spoken about in Revelations.

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. -- 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

As always, both sides are going to extremes. These things have to happen incrementally. They can't be forced.

What about people who believe the government conspired to allow the events of 9/11 to happen? Can we lynch them too?

fusillade762: Why does it seem like every group with the word "Family" in the title is populated by bigoted asshats?

For the same reason any group calling itself "people's" anything is Communist. It's an unsubtle dogwhistle.
Basically, it's rhetorical doublethink. The "Family" groups no more represent families--at least, not modern ones, than the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" actually represents democracy or the people of Korea.

It really seems like only one side is going off the derp end - the AFA. "Mix it up day" sounds silly, but harmless. There's nothing extreme about it. The AFA calling it part of the "homosexual agenda" and urging parents to keep their kids home from shook that day, is batshiat insane.

Let's teach kids to hate Bryan Fischer. Not even his group. Just him.

I lean republican. The American Family Association are a bag of tools and do not represent conservative values.

I think "mixing it up" day is a pretty neat idea if done correctly. Simply telling kids to sit with an unknown group will create distrust or anger if kids are forced together though.

Remember Robespierre, chum.

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: What in the fark is wrong with the AFA??

They're pretty much the dominionist equivalent of the KKK or neo-Nazi groups, and no, I am not exaggerating (pretty much they're not only one of the American groups clearly linked to the Ugandan "Death To Gays" bill, but they are actively Holocaust-revisionist and promote the works of AFA-CA founder and anti-LGBT dominionist Holocaust-revisionist Scott Lively).

/grew up in what was functionally the state AFA headquarters in my state
//still amazed I managed to grow up with ANY SAN points left at all
