zez: So if acts normal and the only difference is a number, what's the problem?
zez: AirForceVet: we had one dude show up the first night hammered. He blew 0.32 as we are all breathalyzed when we come in. The scary part was that he was pretty much walking and talking normallySo if acts normal and the only difference is a number, what's the problem?
ToxicMunkee: It's okay. Those douchebag kids will go home where they're worshipped by their parents.
LincolnLogolas: aevert: When I was in fifth grade we had some aerobic dance instructor come in and teach us all a bunch of dances. One thing she taught us was the Macarena. Right at the peak of the Macarena craze. After she gets through all the steps we stared booing her, but at least she had the composure to remain on stage.Later we all had to write her an apology note.I was out of school for a month, having appendicitis. Apparently, while I was gone, the school had Miss California come in as a motivational speaker. I guess she, at one point, had her dress pulled up by a group of students that mobbed her. Everyone in the school had to write a letter of apology to her. I had to complain to the dean that I shouldn't have to write it, on account of the fact that I wasn't even there.Tl;Dr cool story bro
thisisarepeat: I got an "OUIL" in the late 90's in Michigan.I was 19, it was about 4:00am and foggy as I have ever seen, my vehicle was parked, my blood alcohol level was 0.02 (thats a DUI for anybody under 21) and some stupid fat biatch barreled into it at around 50 mph and farked up her knees, as well as totaling both of our vehicles. She sued my parents for $60,000. SO fark ALL OF YOU MADD MOTHERfarkERS, DIAF!!!! I'm glad your families died because you pieces of shiat deserve it .
jj325: When I was in high school (late 70's) they bussed all of us kids to an auditorium to listen to David Toma talk about the dangers of drugs. A lot of catcalls and mocking--drugs were pretty popular back before all the Just Say No crap. But the guy didn't walk off in tears or anything. Guess kids are pretty much the same now/Don't remember much except that we got early dismissal that day and it was nice out//Bunch of us went to the park and took acid
titwrench: quickdraw: titwrench: She is supposedly a professional speaker and she got rattled by a high school kid? She needs a new job.She didn't cry and she wasn't rattled she just refused to continue in the face of blatant disrespect. More people should do that imo.If she walked off the stage before she was finished she was rattled and not being professional. It's fine if she doesn't want to waste any more of her time, that's her choice but she sure as hell better not expect to get paid.
Eugoogoolizer: There was a bully at our high school who was a real farking jerk. I didn't get any hassle from him but I remember kids in the lower grades going home in tears because of how mean he was to them. The night before graduation he rolled his car going 160 kph and flipped it end over end. He was drunk. He lived but was basically a vegetable after that. They brought him back to school the next year to see everyone but he couldn't recognize faces or really even speak and didn't even have basic motor control. The kids he used to pick on then proceeded to throw food at him. Being a bully is one thing but I don't think I'd ever wish an outcome like that on someone, if it was karma he must have done some truly evil shiat to someone.

doglover: I liked many of my high school speakers, but the anti- people make me physically ill. When they're not lying, they're exagerating and skewing numbers.
jaytkay: pedrop357: 'm an adult who doesn't drive drunk and I'm sick of hearing/seeing the messages and it's not nearly as condescending, trite, simplistic, or unrealistic as that aimed at teens. No, adults can STFU and be polite.
pedrop357: Maybe the 90+% of teens who DON'T drink and driver are sick of hearing sob stories, condescending lectures, and/or simplistic moralizing from any idiot the school district can get to come and talk.I'm an adult who doesn't drive drunk and I'm sick of hearing/seeing the messages and it's not nearly as condescending, trite, simplistic, or unrealistic as that aimed at teens. When a significant number simply don't drink, and the vast majority of those who do drink do not drive drunk, you're bound to test the limits of how much insulting time wasting lectures they're willing to take.Put yourself in their shoes. How many assemblies like this would all of us as adults put up with? How many times would your job have to bring you to a meeting/assembly of the kind schools do before you stopped paying attention or even engaged in a little taunting? Granted, adults would be a little more tactful, but anyone paying attention would realize that the vast majority are sick of this kind of meeting and showing it to the presenter.

bow: PallMall: aimtastic: FTFA: "State DUI accident records show SouthCarolina teenagers could greatly benefitfrom her warnings. In 2010, state and locallaw enforcement responded to 357 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities; at least 38 ofthem involved drivers, passengers orpedestrians who were under 21."What the fark do passengers and pedestrians under 21 have to do with underage drinking and driving? Way to pad those numbers."Alcohol related" means ANYONE involved in the accident... whether it was the driver or not.Example: If a sober person ran over a pedestrian, and the pedestrian had ANY alcohol in their system (hospital checks for alcohol, etc before pumping you full of drugs) it is considered an "alcohol related" accident. This is true. I work with crash data, and we have these problems all the time. It can get really confusing when you're reporting numbers like this. Actually, it usually depends on how the police officer filled out the crash report. Sometimes for alcohol related crashes, the officer doesn't even code who was drinking, so you can't separate out the pedestrians or bicyclists who were drinking when the driver was sober.
AirForceVet: I hate to tell you, fellow Farkers and Farkettes, but drunk drivers on the road is a serious problem. Pretty cool she goes around telling kids not to fark up like I did.Got a DUI in 2000 myself. The expense was bad enough but I was shocked, yes, SHOCKED, when I went through the mandatory safety classes.Besides having to pay for them up front, we had one dude show up the first night hammered. He blew 0.32 as we are all breathalyzed when we come in. The scary part was that he was pretty much walking and talking normally. They tossed him out along with any late comers as it was like basic training mode there. Then I had to attend a victims impact panel in the county courthouse where people who were involved in horrific DUI crashes tell their stories of injuries and dead family from drunk drivers. That night, they didn't breathalyze us but they should have. The asshat next to me smelled like a distillery.Really, don't drink and drive. It's not worth the hassles and heartache one could cause.
