I look forward to seeing it. I also liked part one. Let the flaming begin, but I think Ayn Rand makes some valid points. Sure, they're taken to extremes, but it's literary license. Her ideology seems to get people in a rage, but I think they doth protest too much.

The problem with filming any of Rand's books, particularly this one, is that it's just going to show clearly what anyone who isn't a Rand fanatic already knows: it only exists as a vehicle for Rand to spew her poisonous doctrine. The plots are ludicrous, the dialogue is ridiculous, and the characters themselves are cardboard cutouts.

Stop making movies, conservatives. You're not good at it. Or don't stop, who gives a shiat.

2012-10-14 03:07:23 PM
Wait, it has little chance of making back the production costs??
So this movie is anti-Ayn Rand??

HAHAHAH HHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHHAAH
Only proving more so, that their ideas are shiat.

All they managed was an extra $20,000? The way ticket prices are constantly rising, more people probably went to the original.

Frankly, I'm wondering how they convinced the theater owners to play a sequel to a massive flop on even more screens.

2012-10-14 03:41:36 PM
What genius thought it was a good idea to finance this? Can they do me a favor and do a Dredd sequel? It's not going to happen otherwise.

She pegged calling the left progressives. She has that going for her.

As long as it makes the left pucker, I am for it.

Saw it in OKC.

Pucker? No.
Laughing that the producers have again lost millions? Yes.
Amused that you wasted your money for your cause? Only a little. It is, after all, your money to waste as you see fit.

Hollywood, duh. One of the best-known books of all time certainly should have gotten the full Hollywood treatment, i.e. a $100 million budget and star-studded casting, screenplay, and directing. If that had happened, due to the powerful force of the original work's truths and insights, the movie would have grossed double what Avatar did and swept the Oscars. Few would even recall the Lord of the Rings trilogy after seeing Atlas Shrugged I, II, III, and IV The Quickening.

But liberal, corrupt Hollywood couldn't bear to see that happen, so they blacklisted the project at every turn, instead pumping out their typical sputum of anti-American, defeatist claptrap and thinly-disguised calls-to-arms for Communists and Obama supporters.

Can't the movie just be shiatty, without having some vast left wing and MSM conspiracy attached to it? I saw advertisements and news programs promote it. It just looked like a shiatty movie.
Is it also a left wing conspiracy that there is "zero interest overseas"?

Well you have a Part 1 movie that tanked and barely anyone saw. Then you put out Part 2. You've got to know a good portion of the people who saw Part 1 won't bother with the sequel and I'm sure people who didn't see Part 1 aren't going to watch #2 so you're down to a tiny slice of the movie going pubic.

Hollywood Accounting won't even need to try and prove this thing failed. In fact, I suspect the studio will use it to cover all their profits for 2012.

I'm sure that was the plan all along, they'll write this off against the re-re-re-reboot of Batman in 2034.

Although I, too, enjoyed them, as any 17 year old boy would, it struck me even then as kinda weird that they devoted an entire spinning-around-the-topless-chick camera shoot just for that scene.

Why not. He regulates the air itself. And if you are not a good citizen, you may be introduced to the NDAA.

It doesn't matter, I posted a link to the taxation regime in New Zealand and she stopped whining. Why is it that Americans think they're gonna go Galt and find a better deal elsewhere? The United States is pretty much the bee's knees when it comes to free-market bootstraps coupled with First World lack of AK-47s.

I went through a William Gibson obsession in my younger years. I still read his Sprawl Trilogy once every few years or so.

But you know what? I know goddamn well that the movie "Johnny Mnemonic" farking sucked. Even a perpetually naked (and lesbian humping) Asia Argento couldn't save "New Rose Hotel." He wrote one of the dumbest "X-Files" episodes ever. He's not perfect. Not everything he touches turns to gold. Some of his work is flat-out un-filmable. Some is even un-readable.

The fact that this shiat has a negative review from every respectable film critic on the planet, yet IMDB.com and RottenTomatoes.com have been spammed with perfect user ratings, is why people think Randroids are a goddamn cult.

I've read some of the professional criticisms and most seem way off. The NY Post critic said it looked like production qualities akin to a 1986 porno and special effects off of a basic Mac. The production values seemed fine and better than current TV movies. When I see a review like that it strikes me as if they're not reviewing the film and instead reviewing the subject matter.

So, who's going to do the parody response that will make thirty times as much because people will go to laugh?

Actually, you could do a parodic retelling with the same message. If you make people laugh you can fill the seats easier than if you promise to lecture at them.

/Or redo it ala Rocky Horror.

To be fair, a review is a subjective analysis of the movie. When the subject matter is controversial, and the movie is advertised as a "gamechanger for the election", you have to expect some backlash if the critic doesn't like the subject matter.
