cherryl taggart: So long as we all agree about the Kardashians.

If there's ever to be world peace, that's the thing that will bring us all together.

Most of the people on this list are hated for a reason, but I will argue for Lady Gaga.

I'm not a Gaga fan, probably never will be, but I've always approved of her. I consider her a subversive performance artist, she's an epic troll at the same time she's a musician. I've heard her perform without studio trickery, and she can do it. She is choosing the image and music she is doing...she is using it to her advantage. It's all a large scale performance, and I think it's comedically well done.

My gripe with her is I don't feel her actual music delivers on her potential, but I think it would clash with the image she is making. She might surprise us down the road when the Gaga persona changes. I don't like the artists she associates with and collaborates with (I have no respect for Beyonce especially).

So I'll never buy a Gaga album, but I like what she's doing...I think of her as the Marilyn Manson of pop music (without the insightful commentary).

The Fallout Boy listing seemed to exist for no reason other than to acknowledge that the singer mentioned cracked.com once.

KingoftheCheese: Chad Kroeger is my top favourite Canadian musician.

You need to listen to some Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Mother Mother, Metric, The Tragically Hip, Sloan, New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene, The Dears, Arcade Fire, Our Lady Peace, I Mother Earth....

You can have my hate for Dane Cook when you pry it from my cold, dead heart.

/Carlos Mencia is the bigger evil, though

This guy. He's actually a good actor, but too many people talk about how little range he has as an actor. They say he's always playing the same muted and silent role. And then they make fun of him playing Bill and Ted.

YOUR LATTER POINT ABOUT BILL AND TED JUST DISPROVED YOUR FORMER POINT!

I get so annoyed by that because it happens all the time. (And then they talk about how great somebody like Jack Nicholson is, even though he falls in a similar category of typecasting.)

Also, Shia LaBeouf. I mean the guy isn't an asshole, and he's a decent actor. He's not the best, and even he doubts his own acting skills. But, give this guy a break. Sure, Megan Fox; fark her, and fark what she calls "acting". But don't lump Shia in the same category just because they've been in the same movie together.

Hell, I think he would be perfect to play Yorrick in "Y: The Last Man".

I haven't seen anything Dane Cook has done since 2004 or 05, I'm not sure, but I've never terribly disliked the guy. He's a bit too high-energy I suppose. Maybe he's more intolerable in his more recent stuff. I dunno.

Rosie Perez

Explain Is it the voice?  Not sure I have ever heard anyone hating on her.

The only performance of his I would say was actively "bad" was in Dracula. But I blame Coppola for telling him he could do an English accent. I'm the least stickler for accents there is. I don't care that Sean Connery plays a Scotsman no matter what and I don't care that Kevin Costner didn't even try in Robin Hood but Keanu in Dracula was foul.

/okay he wasn't that great in Point Break either I guess

TFA is right about ONE thing.

Jeff Dunham IS worse than Dane Cook. At least Cook isn't a race-baiting sellout. The guy is actually talented, but sometime after 9/11 he decided to aim for the paranoid, xenophobic, redneck, racist crowd and he did it subtly at first, and then overtly, and finally just came out and said he'd suck their dicks for money.

Well, maybe not that last part, but he might as well have done so.

I know this is troll and yet are you farking kidding me, Shia Lebouf cannot act and he would be perfect is an insult to perfection and no one should play Yorrick because Hollywood would fark it up and take out all the best parts. See
Even though we mainly follow Yorrick around, every character is a women(besides the monkey, flashbacks, the baby boy and Yorrick, possibly also male astronauts, has been a while since I read the series) I cannot imagine Hollywood making a movie where almost every single roll is a female role. See The Extraordinary League of Gentlemen as to how they would fark it up. I think Hollywood would rather make a Maus movie.

And then there is this. Not a collaboration, but just Gaga and a piano. Not bad at all.

I don't get that hate for Madonna and U2's music either. Their personal lives, yeah, but as someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s, I think the music is bloody good.

KingoftheCheese: Maybe next time you decide to open your mouth about his "lack of talent", you should remember that Nickleback is the second best selling foreign act in America. Second only to The Beatles.

And in my humble opinion, The Beatles keep pretty damn good company.

Just because you sell a lot of something doesn't necessarily mean your good. The people listening to Nickleback are the same people drinking Budweiser.

The Honey Boo Boo people aren't celebrities. I will not begrudge poor uneducated folks for taking advantage of one of their few opportunities for legitimately easy money. I will begrudge TLC for putting them on the air though.

mongbiohazard: I don't hate Dane Cook, and I do find him funny. There, I said it. Thank god too, because he gives the wife quite the ladyboner.

My Best Friend's Girl was hilarious.

I get a kick out of coming here and saying I find him funny. He's in very, very rare territory here on Fark- you'd think he was a puppy kicking child molester based on the way he's treated here.

I find him funny. If you don't, that's fine. Fark you in the face with a broken milk bottle.

Thought for sure Ben Affleck would be on that list.

No, he's not a good actor. He's a successful star, but he's a crappy actor. However, I would never say that Keanu Reeves is a bad guy. All stories I've heard say he's cool on the set, shows up when he's supposed to, does what he does with grace, and doesn't look down on the little people. Didn't he buy all the electricians on one movie shoot all motorcycles or something? Basically because he's got more money that he thinks he can use? Anyway, Keanu Reeves has the best agent in Hollywood, but he's a good guy at heart.

From the comments here in HBB threads, it sounds like that family is actually using what few wits God granted them to save up for the little girl's college and future needs, rather than blow the money on bling and bullshiat. Basically, the mother is playing the clown so at least one of her kids might have a better life. Just like millions of parents all throughout history.

So they've got that going for them, which is nice.

Sarah Jessica Parker deserves a spot on that list too.

2012-10-14 09:44:17 PM
Boy George is missing on the list. Good songwriter, good singer, snappy dresser, nice guy in person(or so I've heard) and rather a witty interview. So what if he did egregious amounts of blow, or chained a male hooker to radiator? If you could do egregious amounts of blow and chain a male hooker to a radiator, wouldn't you?

And yet, someone like Morrissey is worshipped like a god, and there is no nastier, more egocentric, smug buttmunch on the planet than he.

2012-10-14 09:46:22 PM
The difference between Dennis Leary stealing from Bill Hicks and Dane Cooke stealing from Louis CK is that Dennis stole jokes from an unfunny comic and made them funny while Dane stole jokes from a funny comic and made them unfunny.

THIS. So she's not a kewpie doll, and she was the lead on a show that many men hate. I get annoyed by the amount of vitriole spewed her way. Teehee, she looks like a horse. We get it.

In that same vein, I think Carrot Top is belongs on the list as well. He's a weird-looking dude who's gotten EVERsomuch weirder looking in recent years from all the 'roids and plastic surgery; that and it seems there's on hate like prop comic hate. But some of his stuff that I've seen from his TV appearances has been really funny; I also hear he's a really nice guy in person, too.

I disagree--I think he stole the good jokes from Bill Hicks that Bill Hicks was already telling well. Hicks did have his ups and downs, though.

ok, Gaga gets the hate for dressing up outrageously and in this wacky shiat, but she's talented too.

You know how else dressed up outrageously and was talented as well?

Elton John.

2012-10-14 09:55:15 PM
I will say this: I watched the first Dane Cook comedy special at the beginning of his career, and I laughed my ass off--really enjoyed it. I haven't seen a thing from him since that's given me half a snicker, though.

Tourgasm was atrocious; I watched that, hoping it would be more in line with the Comedians of Comedy movie, but it was such a steaming pantload of unfunny. The ONE talented comedian on the program, Gary Gulman, was regrettably lazy in his material. If I hear that cookie joke ONE MORE TIME...

When you are with your buddies having a few Natty Lites and a Nickleback song starts jamming on your favorite Rock Hits of the 80s, 90s, and Today station, why do you all suddenly feel the need to shift the conversation towards how much of a group of no talent cock bags Chad and the guys are? Is it because you know you will never be that rich and famous? Or is it that you wish your High School garage band had actually made more than $15 at a bar and then broke up?

Maybe next time you decide to open your mouth about his "lack of talent", you should remember that Nickleback is the second best selling foreign act in America. Second only to The Beatles.

Came in to mention Carrot Top. I met him once briefly when he set off an alarm when I was working my second job at the mall.... Not his fault of course and he was incredibly understanding, friendly, and all around cool about the mistake. You would be surprised at how many people throw a fit about being inconvenienced at the door on their way out. I live in Orlando and he spends a lot of time here and other encounters that I have heard are the same.

I think the problem with U2 is people feel Bono is too preachy (and The Edge uses the same guitar effect over and over). I actually like their music, and I agree with some of what Bono says. I think he's done a lot of good, actually. People just don't like musicians preaching at them...

Madonna was amazingly good in the 80's, but for me everything after the Immaculate Collection fell flat and just felt weak. It was no longer innovative, but horribly derivative of the current trends. In the past, though, she could be truly brilliant.

2012-10-14 10:37:20 PM

Neondistraction: Sorry cracked, but I'd rather watch a half hour of Jeff Dunham than 5 minutes of Dane Cook.

And I don't care if Fall Out Boy are the most talented band of the decade (hint: they aren't), but if your hairstyle can be described as 'flock of seagulls without the hair gel/plaster of paris' you deserve whatever ridicule you get.

Jeff Dunham??? Let's just agree to disagree... you know, what with Jeff Dunham being a no-talent hack who's been telling the same jokes for 20 years.

2012-10-14 10:53:09 PM

Snapper Carr: steverockson: I never really understood the hate for Ben Affleck. He seems like a genuinely nice and talented guy.

Same here. He's a competent actor and is on his way to becoming an excellent director and he takes himself a lot less seriously than some of his fellow actors who have half of his ability.

He took some damage over the Bennifer thing but that had more to do with a celebrity obsessed media than it did with either of them.

Ben Affleck gets props for still talking to Kevin Smith after the Mallrats commentary, where seven people in a room who have maybe 10% of Affleck's talent ripped on him every time he popped up on screen.

I also like that he married Jennifer Garner, who seems like a real down to earth individual. Kevin Smith was talking on one of his podcasts last year and apparently she hates Smith so much that Affleck won't say hello to Smith if Garner is around, which probably means Garner is a pretty good judge of character.

2012-10-14 11:03:22 PM
Another one of the most overly, undeservedly hated actors has to be Jake Lloyd, who played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I. I swear to God the hatred he's gotten over the years is so overblown it's ridiculous. It makes the hatred Wil Wheaton got over playing Wesley Crusher seem positively subdued.

2012-10-14 11:13:21 PM

Snapper Carr: I honestly don't hate Gaga. I hate the music industry that leads a pretty talented singer/songwriter like Stefani Germanotta wear a meat dress and drench her songs with auto-tune in order to get any kind of attention.

I honestly hate her.

They say you can't hate someone unless you loved them first.

I loved her, because she made the best trashy dance/pop music.

And then she realized "Wow, gay people love my stuff. Let me pander to them IN EVERY STINKING SINGLE THERE IS."

Frankly, I find it insulting to gay people. They liked her before she started pandering. They liked her not because she talked about being "born this way" but because she just had fun.

2012-10-14 11:51:07 PM
love fall out boy's music. Never met anyone who hated them. LG doesn't deserve the hate either...the other 3 deserve everything.

It is going to be funny when the little honey boo boo girl grows up to be the next Kate Upton and we are all rubbing one out to her Carls Jr. Commercial.

Ben and Jennifer showed up here in Tulsa at the Bass Pro Shops with kids in tow. The local news reported on the suprise visit (it's Oklahoma, it was a BIG deal). Apparently they were incredibly gracious and nice to everyone that approached them.

Their first album was good. It really was. I would be suprised to hear someone say they honestly hated it. It wasn't an artistic masterpiece, but the guys' voice had a certain power and rawness to it. But that's where they stayed. I remember light criticisms of "it kinda all sounds the same" lead to "holy fark can you do anything else at all?" After a while even his face came to represent everything that sucked about 21st century rock.

Maybe because mainstream rock was on its deathbed, that no one could evolve the Nickelback style(lord knows they weren't willing or able themselves), so the style itself became stale, then hated and Nickelback became the target of that hate. They weren't the ones to kill rock, they just happened to be on top when it died.

Still, fark them.
