Evil Mackerel: whither_apophis: IsNoGood: Evil Mackerel: I wonder if he has a Peter Shilling song stuck in his head?

99 red balloons, more likely

Major Tom?

I was thinking along the lines of "The Noah Plan".

or Crash Test Dummies maybe?

2012-10-14 01:15:22 PM
So 102,800 is the magic number to set the record. We're only 4,000 feet from that.

2012-10-14 01:15:34 PM

Mawson of the Antarctic: In a way, isn't Felix Baumgartner doing the greatest, "Hold my beer and watch this..." of all time?

Yep.

2012-10-14 01:15:58 PM
He is soooooo high right now.

2012-10-14 01:16:15 PM

Foaming: The balloon has definitely grown in the reduced pressure. Only about the top third was inflated at the lower altitudes.

So has the size of Felix's balls.

100k

2012-10-14 01:16:32 PM
"This is higher than Baumgartner has ever been."

HA

2012-10-14 01:16:32 PM
The camera view of the earth below would make a nice screen saver.

2012-10-14 01:17:11 PM

r1niceboy: Scruffinator: This announcer sucks.

Still better than Joe Buck though.

At least this fella doesn't have Dennis Miller accompanying him.

Fran Tarkanton should be on this.

2012-10-14 01:17:44 PM
Past record was in 1960. *salutes Colonel Joe*

2012-10-14 01:17:48 PM
This is some Tony Stark level shiat here.

Micanope: He probably won't say, "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

oh great now I got that damn pig in my head again

Wow. Compared to what they got today, that's like jumping out of a balloon with a raincoat and some duct tape on.

Mawson of the Antarctic: In a way, isn't Felix Baumgartner doing the greatest, "Hold my beer and watch this..." of all time?

Nah, his beer would be skunky by the time he got back down.

2012-10-14 01:20:25 PM
He looks like he is reading Fark threads.

2012-10-14 01:20:45 PM
Higher now than Kittinger's record altitude.

2012-10-14 01:21:18 PM
I like how you can hear the lady correcting the announcer.

2012-10-14 01:21:44 PM
This is giving me hardcore vertigo.

He should take a whiz out the capsule, set another record.

How much of a danger is drowning in the desert? I'd think rattlesnakes would be a bigger concern. Or maybe landing in the midst of a drug running operation.

2012-10-14 01:23:01 PM
I wonder if he can see his dad from up there.

2012-10-14 01:23:10 PM
Maybe I missed it, but what is the inviting, candy like, red button for?

2012-10-14 01:23:23 PM
Are all those people in "Mission Control" really necessary or is it just for looks? I'm sure a few of them are actually doing something but in one of the shots it looked like a lady was just watching the broadcast on her monitors.

Hard to fap in a suit like that.

/Just sayin..

It is like a lead balloon.

Or drop a chicken and an egg.

Curious about that too. Capsule eject from balloon?

Considering that they just said the last guy's hand swelled up to twice its normal size because of a glove tear....

"Looking busy" is a job.

Maybe something good. Maybe something bad.

If he hits a guy's shoes, maybe we can get Joe Buck's opinion on the record-setting feat.

EatenTheSun: How much of a danger is drowning in the desert? I'd think rattlesnakes would be a bigger concern. Or maybe landing in the midst of a drug running operation.

Actually, landing in the farking middle of nowhere is the problem I see... there are some places that could take more than a few hours to get to when he lands... And that's best case, and IF their is a road nearby. (Nearby meaning 20 Mi)

Its a big freaking state, with very few people in it.

2012-10-14 01:25:20 PM
What a view.

2012-10-14 01:25:23 PM
I picked a bad week to quit drinking Red Bull

That would set yet another record.
