Maybe they should do something useful for their cause, like donate the money to an anti-gun organization. Not sure how dumping some gravel on a factory roof will help...Oh yeah, symbolism.

HK probably doesn't mind the press. It's too bad most of the guns they make are so damned expensive and have reasonable substitutes for half the price.

FTA: And they've been slammed here in the U.S. for not selling more of their arms on the commercial market. Not too long ago was the MP7/RECOIL kerfuffle which highlighted the company's marginal interest in selling semi-automatic versions of the submachine guns and assault rifles to the general public, although we doubt the Center for Political Beauty cares much about this specific issue.

You don't sell us enough guns! You b*stards!

Because of your explanation. I found it amusing at least. Your suggestions would have been appropriate as well.

It seems there was more text after the shiatty youtube video. I should stop drinking at 10am.

FTFA: "new G36 rifles were found in Libya, used by Gaddafi's soldiers and they have openly traded with other questionable regimes"
That's a little troubling. I mean, it's one thing if the bastards got the rifles from a middleman, but openly trading would be pretty unconscionable with Gaddafi. I wonder at the phrasing and what the "other questionable regimes" are.

Also, ignorance knows no strong hand to keep it in line: "And they've been slammed here in the U.S. for not selling more of their arms on the commercial market. Not too long ago was the MP7/RECOIL kerfuffle which highlighted the company's marginal interest in selling semi-automatic versions of the submachine guns and assault rifles to the general public, although we doubt the Center for Political Beauty cares much about this specific issue."
Why don't you blame the GCA of 1968? That's the piece of legislation which makes it a biatch and a half to import rifles. Apparently the US government will listen to domestic arms manufacturers when it comes to protectionist trade policies. Other industries are hit hard by "free" trade agreements.

things must be different where there artistes live. i know of a shiatload of manufacturing process plants here in the USA that will probably never be shut down because the materials they handled is so deadly.

two places where i played as a child later appeared as Superfund sites. one stayed that way until just a few years ago when "let's build a shopping mall" money came around. the other one is still the backyards & accompanying fields of a housing project where no one can sell their house and those who bought there long ago will never get to be grandparents - except for a few potato head kids that did manage to not die.

More ironic if the cement/gravel mix got sucked up into the rotors and caused them to crash, and the resulting fire ignited ammo that popped off and some of the rounds came down in a kindergarten nearby, killing the sadistic principal and a neighborhood pedophile, and all of the kids cheered as a result.

I suppose it also helps to have some knowledge of architectural history -- the proposed concrete "sarcophagus" clearly contains elements of fascist architecture, which was basically a perversion of Roman architecture. Hitler was very fond of the style.

It would be sweet karma if a rock from this load of crap they are dropping reaches terminal velocity and drives itself into some dude's skull on the ground and kills him. Let them try and explain why it's not bad to blow a hole in somebody's head with a rock but is with a piece of lead.

Considering they are the primary supplier for the German military, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of airspace restrictions around the factory, or at least some extra federal charges for screwing with a resource vital to national defense.

THIS.

H&K is the Apple of the gun world. Yeah, they make great stuff, but not so great as to justify the cost difference. The fanboys of both are pretty insufferable, too.

My local Class III dealer has a MP5-SD A3 (factory suppressed). Total cost to transfer it would be more than my car cost new. And I drive a nice car.

2012-10-14 04:45:41 PM
HK's claim to fame is great PR. They make fairly average guns for the most part

USP? big, heavy, no more reliable than any other plastic fantastic and less so than a lot of others.
G3? Mass produced stamped POS with shiat ergonomics and a crappy charging handle that mangles brass and has recoil worse than any other .308 in its class
G36? AR-18 with a built in scope that cant hold zero, and accumulates moisture, all in a shell that tends to melt
XM8? A G36 with all the perks but that also doesnt accept any commonly found accessory.

They've been riding the good will the MP5 gave them way back when the SAS made them look gucci in the Iranian Embassy siege.

That being said i own a PTR91 (G3 clone), a C93 that actually works (Hk33 clone) and a USP. Id trade the PTR for a DSA FAL, would keep the C93 as its one of the cheaper semi auto 5.56 slingers around (and it looks boss) and the USP sits in the safe as my Sig is my go to pistol.

That happened in DC right? I think that was a SIG rifle.

If anything, H&K's business practices hurt them here in the states. There is an army of mall ninja types who shell out big money for the H&K roll-mark. Their 416 has almost zero chance of widespread adoption in the U.S. Army, except for a few special forces units. Yet the next biggest market for AR-pattern rifles, the U.S. civilian market, they've basically told to eat shiat. Cerberus can sell their Shrubmaster ACR for over $2,000, H&K would make a killing if they sold their piston-AR here in the states.

My mistake, you are correct. I wouldn't really have kept it though; it would be dishonest, and that weapon isn't legal in CA. Rather than calling the police and the press though, I would have simply called UPS.

I think the unspoken truth is that H&K is selling average quality machinery at top shelf prices and needs big governments contacts to make the ends meet.

H&K has a lot of name value, but not enough to justify government pricing on civilian weapons. Not unless they bring a true masterpiece.
The 416 is not that gun.
The mall ninjas want it because its unique. When the brand is no longer rare, what they've got is the same as a Ruger 556 but almost a thousand dollars more.
