Here's what that looked like from Alonso's perspective.

WhyteRaven74: In NASCAR you have cookie cutter tracks, in F1 you have Tilke-cutter tracks.

"[To drivers and fans] a top five of Tilke tracks will be like a nicest smelling dog poo competition, or a battle to determine Justin Bieber's best song."

Ah, yes, the F1 2012 video game. Try it without an expensive wheel - it's a great way to recreate the start of Spa!

As I understand it, the death of Kim Jong Il has reduced the odds of him winning the North Korean Gran Prix to 5:2.

King Something: Lewis just picked up a huge piece of astroturf

/2 laps to go

Hopefully this will get rid of that stuff, it is as bad as when they paint the concrete green.

mjg: Correct me if this has been done already but has any news organization done a piece on the 'business of F1'?

Much has been done on Bernie but I'd also be interested in coverage of how smaller teams (ie. Force India) can maintain a team. (what are the team incentives; sponsorship; tech developments, etc)

/any comments, thoughts?

The biggest problem with the business of the sport is the Concorde Agreement, the document that governs how Formula One Management (the commercial group), the FIA (the rules body), and the Formula One Teams' Association (except Red Bull and Ferrari, who negotiate as independent entities) divy up the responsibilities and revenue for the sport. You have effectively five major parties that enter into an agreement, the terms of which are generally kept secret until a new Agreement is reached.

The nicest thing about F1 in regards to the rest of international sports? F1 has the most forthright corruption you'll ever find.

King Something: WhyteRaven74: And given there will likely be two US F1 races, the question comes up again why there isn't at least one US backed/based/owned F1 team and no American F1 drivers.

There was a US F1 team. They were called US F1 Team. They couldn't afford to compete and ended up folding like gentlemen's literature.

Welcome to Fark, Mr. Brundle.
