I would love it if, at the start, the entire field just sat there and let that fark-up go all by himself. I bet he'd still crash at Turn 1.

Here's what that looked like from Alonso's perspective.

So, how many empty seats will there be today? During qualifying there were lots of empty seats.

If I had been attending, after 2010, I'd be hesitant to buy tickets again. It was an absolute monsoon.

/Texas is expensive as hell, but they'll have great weather.

Weather is one issue, the fact the track is not exactly close to any major cities in Korea is another one.

Good to see there are some other Farkers watching.

So how often does qualifying sell out?

/Never been to an F1 race, so curious.
//Live in Long Beach and watch the sports cars and GP for free from a parking garage overlooking the track. Awesome view of a corner approach, brake hard right, then full-throttle down a long straight.
Gives me goosebumps every year. Especially those farking shrieking Ferraris. Rumbly Vettes good, too.
///Slashies come in threes, I hear.

seelorq: So how often does qualifying sell out?

Pretty regularly. It's not usual to see large swaths of seats empty for an F1 qualifying session. And at some races, qualifying sells out because so many people want to see something, anything and race tickets are gone in the blink of an eye.

LOL @ Buxton

He writes an article somewhat defending Grosjean, and backs it up in a Reddit AMA.

Then he asks Massa if he's concerned about starting new Grosjean before going to Lotus.

A+ shiat stirring. Fark level, even.

Buxton is awesome. Also he's one of a very few people with permanent F1 credentials, meaning he doesn't have to apply for credentials for each race, his credentials are good for every race. Which makes him a rather rare breed.

The SPEED crew has been talking mad shiat about the future of Mercedes with Buxton. To listen to them, Brawn will be gone soon and the team will go the way of Jaguar within a few seasons.

/They may not be wrong

Given Lauda's history? I suspect they're not wrong. Also I can't imagine Brawn getting along with Lauda for long. Brawn has no reason to suffer anyone.

Well yeah, but then Buxton is English, Jordan is Scottish.

I can't say I've ever watch NBC's coverage of auto racing. Do they usually have more commercials than Fox, less, or about the same?

heh I'm wondering if there'll be any live coverage of the races at all, and I'm not expecting any in depth stuff, like Formula 1 Debrief at all.

I wouldn't go that far.

King Something: Do they usually have more commercials than Fox, less, or about the same?

Well for Indy car racing, they've had less, and the coverage hasn't been bad, but then they've had two of the very few people who are any good doing the coverage. Who knows what they'll do with F1.

OK, I understand...race day tix in Long Beach are steep, too, which is why I climb into that parking garage. I am still amazed the sanctioning bodies/sponsors haven't gone all nazi and roped it off, but until they do, I'll be trackside for free. It's kinda awesome that I live close enough to the downtown track area that the cars practicing wake me up in the morning! Much better than a beeping alarm clock...

Most racing sanctioning bodies are pretty laid back. Now the people who do Formula 1? Not so much. Officially yes it's the FIA, but Formula 1 has it's own body within the FIA just as other sanctioning bodies operate under FIA auspices, just that F1 is a lot more wrapped up in the FIA.

Why not bring in Sam Posey a little more? I like his stuff. He sounds like History the way the old 1970s NFL slo-mo guy did. Those were awesome.

2012-10-14 02:02:26 AM
And given there will likely be two US F1 races, the question comes up again why there isn't at least one US backed/based/owned F1 team and no American F1 drivers.

Oh, God, I just remembered that NBC Sports does coverage of the Olympics. This means that they will almost certainly tape-delay the Canadian, American, US and Brazilian Grands Prix for "east coast prime time" rather than letting people watch live, even though all can be aired live in the US with no problems at all save any conflicts with early NFL games.

/formation lap, drivers are preparing

and NBC has NBC Sports where they could show everything live, and then just re-air it on NBC proper.

I love Posey, have since I was a kid in the 80s and he was on ABC as part of their CART broadcast team. I love how he doesn't hold back with what he thinks, like a few races back when he was very critical of how F1 is making innovation all but impossible.
