Soon-Yi was not raised as Woody Allen's daughter. She was Mia Farrow's adopted daughter from a previous marriage. TMYK

He wasn't brought in until he was 12. Way past the time for your brain to think of them as a sibling and think sex=gross.

This headline brought to mind a favorite quote:

The Player: The old man thinks he's in love with his daughter.
Rosencrantz: Good God. We're out of our depths here.
The Player: No, no, no! He hasn't got a daughter! The old man thinks he's in love with his daughter.
Rosencrantz: The old man is?
The Player: Hamlet... in love... with the old man's daughter... the old man... thinks.
Rosencrantz: Ah.

Depends on where they're raised I believe. If raised together no, but if raised apart they'll find them more attractive. Which I don't understand from an evolutionary point of view, but there it is.

My guess is that the incest aversion isn't based on blood, but based on your environment. The people you form the deep emotional attachments to in childhood become the ones you aren't interested in when the sexual awakening happens. And that works out most of the time.

Judging from the first episode of this season, I think the glow of Debra's crush/attraction/desire for Dexter has dimmed somewhat.

Sound's ideal. If you known the person for a long while -- probably since childhood, nothing would happen. In contrast, haven't met that same person in a long time -- and probably far away -- would practically make them strangers and seem like an everyday person.

I thought you could get away from the shame for "loving" cousins due to some gray area according to how distant the relation goes through the family tree.

Adopted "informally", i.e. not actually adopted, at 12 years.

So...

Not blood related.
Not socialized/raised together pre-puberty (the usual source of the mental "ew" reaction that keeps most people from reacting to their siblings as sexual beings, it's actually not directly related to biology).
Not legally related.

Yeah, this one gets a big old "don't care" from me.

The only episode of this I want to see is her getting that goddamned gap between her teeth fixed.

What it will most likely be is an endless series of people wandering around wondering where in hell the gravy train went to without them with a cameo by
Clive Davis as he asks for the $1,000,000 back from the estate that he just lent to their broke asses about 6 months ago.

Too hot, too greedy
How could you leave me
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you, I loved you too

Step brother, eh? Sounds like the premise to one of those Barely Legal porn movies. 'Yeah, I'm losing my cherry to my stepbrother/stepfather!' Course, the girl is probably 30 instead of 18, and swears like a sailor, so it's not very convincing.

Says here that he isn't really legally adopted. It's sort of like Michael Jackson declaring he's the father of every kid who slept in house. Those two have simply been friends since childhood. This is a little unusual, but nothing immoral to me.

Exactly. There's even a name for it, the Westermark Effect. Any children raised together will subconsciously identify each other as siblings and will not be attracted to each other. This has caused some trouble for communes who used to raise all their children together in one big group: None of them would marry each other when they grew up.

Isn't this plot if Clueless? And therefor whatever Victorian novel it ripped off?

I don't see this as a big deal as they are not genetically related and I wouldn't see a big deal even if they were half or fully genetically related, the risk of birth defects is very low with genetically related offspring. There would have to be many years of inbreeding to cause a large enough increase in the risk of birth defects. On another thought if he was adopted when she was 12 how long do you think they have been having intercourse? My thoughts are that they were having it before he was adopted and that is what led to her adopting him.
