Some of those "most unpleasant" ones aren't so bad. But then again, I listen to dark ambient music.

Those sounds are like a warm-up to sitting through Ventolin.

The fork one is pretty bad but it doesn't have the associated eye twitch that comes with my mother saying your name when she wants something from you and she's suddenly super nice out of the blue.

Really? You best be joking, kid. Around these parts, Dumb and Dumber is what we like to call "the very antithesis of obscure".

Some American women have the most shrill, piercing accents imaginable. I don't know how they manage to survive in society.

List fails without "rubbing a balloon". That sound physically makes my ears tickle and I can't stand it.

Babies laughing and people singing out of key sends shivers down my spine worse than any of the so called 10 in the list.

kids laughter too... *Shudder*

Why would subby's ex be nagging my mom in bed?

More likely the other way around.

He did the same thing earlier today with the Shawshank Redemption. It must be his thing or something. Or he's really, really young.

Missing: my sister-in-law's voice. As my other brother said, "She has a voice that would bone herring at 5 fathoms." What is amusing is to see the reactions of people who hear her speak for the first time. I've actually had friends jump when she first speaks; the minimum reaction is a pronounced flinch, but that is from people who have been warned.

The meaning is perhaps obscure.

I can basically tolerate any of those noises EXCEPT anything on chalkboard. I can't even bring myself to write on one without cringing. I keep imagining my teeth scraping against it and uuuuuuugh.

The reasons are a bit arcane and hard-to-follow without a lot of specific context, so they may not be accessible to a general audience.

//heh
//seriously, "sudden influx"? Have you ever seen this site before? The /obscure thing has been a mix of in-joke/genuine fail since just after it lost the picture of the squirrel's testicles.

Styrofoam or balloons squeaking... ugh!

I have to walk a wide circle around those freaks who make balloon animals to prevent violence.
