FinFangFark: @farkmods, let's please have a lovely Monday thread greened for the main page!

Pretty please?

I'm on it; we'll do a big thread tomorrow probably hitting around Noon eastern, when main page traffic is at a maximum

2012-10-14 07:18:34 AM

Cyclometh: I'm loving all of this. I can't wait for the Photoshop contest.

Also, Drew, Unfreakable, and the other Fark modmins- THANK YOU. This was not possible without your support.

You guys have been doing fantastic, we're just trying to help where we can and otherwise not get in your way.

2012-10-14 07:26:48 AM

Kumana Wanalaia: RichieLaw and Unfreakable, I am now going to submit the links as follows:

Photoshop a T-shirt design with Joe's TransAm (JPG up to 2550w x 3400h) LGT GJTB thread
Caption the back of the T-shirt for GJTB

Go?

(remember I need a TotalFarker to submit the Boobiess explaining the rules)

Green and green. The PS thread will go live next Saturday at 9AM and the caption contest will go live today at noon (both times eastern)

2012-10-14 07:30:49 AM

Cyclometh: Kumana Wanalaia: Cyclometh, your second comment in the photoshop thread is hidden because it's a non voting comment in a voting thread. Maybe Unfreakable can force it visible, or amend it to your boobies?

Possibly. Unfreakable?

Actually, the only thing that really works are voting-enabled images.

I totally want to design a t-shirt. That shirt is good, but I'm a man who needs flaming guitar riffs and flying TransAm's beauty. Text just doesn't capture the awesomeness that has happened here. But then again, I have been told I am ridiculous. But I answer to no one, and I do what I want.

Agreed.this is just the first perk. We will be adding a more stylized t shirt and sweatshirt once it is designed by farkers.

One last thing, as I'm looking at some of the Trans Ams, the one in the Onion article looks like the 1981 Pontiac Trans Am "NASCAR Daytona 500 pace car" edition:

Google Image Search

Sample on eBay motors

For the purposes of this, I think it would be awesome if we could get one that matches the Onion article, at least in looks. I don't know that it would be a wise use of the money if we overpaid for the most rare versions of this car, but having one that was mechanically sound and in general good shape that looks identical would be best.

2012-10-14 07:57:05 AM

RockofAges: Suggestion for "the back of the t-shirt" as well as a logo in general:

FARK and Friends (either stylized like Fox and Friends, or the FARK logo and the rest like Fox and Friends)

This is a pretty neat idea. Please submit it to the upcoming threads!

I think the goal is to get the nicest one possible so as to make sure the auction is successful. If we can't find one that is super awesome it is probably worth just donating the money directly to the charities.

I'll work on something as soon as I can, I'm no pro, but sometimes happy accidents happen. I'm staying at a buddies place who just got back from a deployment right now and I'm on his little laptop that's hard to work with, so it might have to be Sunday night before I can do my show and tell. Have a few ideas though. :D

America
Fark Yeah were all a BFD!

/Just goofing off. I guess this would be for the back of the shirt. Personally I would like the picture on the back, but I'll get one to put with my Smoking Gun T-Shirt I won years ago anyway.

My 2 cents:

While some of the text and video on GJTB do have some political connotations, I think the idea is to not get too heavy with the politics, especially the 47%/99%/1% stuff which are heavily divisive right now in the political landscape.

Again, my 2 cents, which thanks to the hyper-inflation of Fartbummer, aren't worth 30 Turkish lira!

:-)

Thanks. I thought about it awhile and you're right. It should be a lighter and funnier. I think I took too much of my political feelings into account in thinking about it. :) That's because I'm kinda pissed off.

Party Boy: Or at least some sort of smoke show burnout. My brother has one of those 556-hp [CTS-V] Cadillacs with a manual. He brought it down for me to eat my heart out. So I got in. I have a driveway that's about 1700 feet long. I knew the Secret Service wouldn't let me drive it outside. So I jumped on that sucker and laid rubber. A great feeling. That thing could probably beat my Corvette.

Not at all, since I am using a Drone (HootSuite) to do my dirty work. This is one of the few weekends left in the year I have off to do house fixing-upping, and I promised myself I wouldn't f*ck around all day as per usual.

Kumana Wanalaia: RichieLaw:

I don't see any sites that offer the on demand service I was hoping for.

We need a farker (or farkers) to receive the bulk shipments from the printer and re-mail the items to the donors.

I'm glommed on to CustomInk.com right now. They are based in Virginia. Their basic turnaround time is 2 weeks; they have a 1 week rush at a 25% premium (and a super rush of 2-4 days, we probably don't need that).

6 color front and 1 color back (text), includes shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

50 white Ts, as above, $14.54 per shirt
100 white Ts, as above, $11.63 per shirt
200 white Ts, as above, $9.52 per shirt
500 white Ts, as above, $7.48 per shirt

Shirts are cheaper if we use less colors, more expensive if we want more colors.

On a white T, we'll need Black, Green, Red, Blue, Pink, and maybe Grey.

That's assuming that we use the Onion pic as is. If the photoshop produces a more colorful pic, we might need more colors.

Or we could limit the palette of the photoshop contest to 5 colors, that way our shirts will come out looking exactly like we expect (apparently CustomInk has artists who do ... something ... to get the images ready for printing on the shirts, and the unexpected has been known to happen).

Here is the design form for CustomInk.com: http://www.customink.com/lab (pops)

Here is the pricing quote tool: http://www.customink.com/quotes (pops)

I'm still super-stoked to see this taking off, and how well everyone is doing it. I just miss being effective and working with a team.

You have. It is. You are... and you are :)

Most everyone already knows the following, so whatever; I very recently got out of an abusive relationship. Where the ex was pulled off while in the midst of assaulting me by a neighbor with a gun, arrested and charges pressed by local PD, tried by the State and hence convicted and sentenced by the same. I know that it is not the same thing as pure war, though I would suggest reading Judith Herman's: Trauma & Recovery. Besides good friends and company this book was amazing. Over two years of being controlled to the point where I was not allowed to open my mouth and state a simple word much less express an opinion, then trying to regain that voice back... regardless, EIP if you need to talk. Probably shouldn't have put all of this here. But it is 4:30am on a Sunday morning and I'm on my like ninth beer :)

*respect knuckles *

Both excellent books, from another survivor.

BTW, "why does he do that?" - halfway through, I put that down and had an Epiphany - this book explains the Republican party. No snark.

RE: T-Shirts

If shirts are going to cost $15+ each, move that up to the $100 perk.

I have about 8,000 T-Shirts in a storage unit that are left over from a marketing campaign. If you want to offer a T-Shirt at the $30 Perk level, make the Perk "All I got was A lousy T-Shirt," and mention that it is new, unused... but may be completely unrelated.

Sure, it may have something completely unrelated on it, but it's a real high quality shirt, and I'll let them go for whatever parcel post rates would be $1ea for materials and labor. That way more of the money goes toward the charities, plus, where can you find a brand new shirt for $1?

I'd rather not sell them as rags because they are legit T-Shirts. Gray T's in L, XL and Fark member (XXL).

PS: I've handed marketing, promotions and advertising shipping in the MILLIONS of items. From buck slips to TVs to vehicles.

I love this shirt idea! Speaking of shirts, are we doing unisex only or are we doing unisex and ladies sizes? This seems like it would be a good ladies size shirt.
