The movies. Oh lawd, the movies.

Die Hard
Goonies
Real Genius
Back to the Future
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Breakfast Club
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Rocky IV (ended Cold War)
Predator
Aliens
The Terminator

I'd reckon more of my life has been wasted on these movies than the average calculation for what a person spends on the crapper in their lifetime.

RichieLaw:

I don't see any sites that offer the on demand service I was hoping for.

We need a farker (or farkers) to receive the bulk shipments from the printer and re-mail the items to the donors.

I'm glommed on to CustomInk.com right now. They are based in Virginia. Their basic turnaround time is 2 weeks; they have a 1 week rush at a 25% premium (and a super rush of 2-4 days, we probably don't need that).

6 color front and 1 color back (text), includes shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

50 white Ts, as above, $14.54 per shirt
100 white Ts, as above, $11.63 per shirt
200 white Ts, as above, $9.52 per shirt
500 white Ts, as above, $7.48 per shirt

Shirts are cheaper if we use less colors, more expensive if we want more colors.

On a white T, we'll need Black, Green, Red, Blue, Pink, and maybe Grey.

That's assuming that we use the Onion pic as is. If the photoshop produces a more colorful pic, we might need more colors.

Or we could limit the palette of the photoshop contest to 5 colors, that way our shirts will come out looking exactly like we expect (apparently CustomInk has artists who do ... something ... to get the images ready for printing on the shirts, and the unexpected has been known to happen).

The Facebook page is a great idea - but a lot of people like to "share" pictures for a cause. I was thinking we could caption something with the link and campaign name that users can post and share across Facebook.

The picture I attached is one of my foster dogs (Hank). I don't want to end up triggering any lawsuits for inappropriate or usage without permission so I just used something on hand. I'm not particularly funny or clever.

Noted. Thank you, Unfreakable.

If we print shirts for $10 each, the cost of re-shipping them will be the critical factor.

Everything is closed right now, so I can't call the customer support lines. But if we could get a bulk shipping rate, that could make it possible. Otherwise shipping costs will kill this.

I'm thinking that we'd put in the order once every 2 weeks, hopefully we'll get over 100 orders each cycle. Or we could take all the orders and do one shipment, that would save a lot. But it would mean that the shirts don't get to the donors until over 2 months from now :/

I'm going to relax for a minute and then figure out the max height and width in pixels for the photoshop. Then I'll post tentative phrasings of the photoshop and caption links.

2012-10-13 09:13:34 PM
