StoneColdAtheist: As someone who rode RIGHT THROUGH three stop signs without stopping while cycling on his way home from work yesterday, I'm getting a kick out of this.
Gunny Highway: theflatline: Gunny Highway: The Face Of Oblivion: Gunny Highway: And if you think I'm a hipster because I don't agree with everyone that is done by me.No, I think you're a hipster because it's obvious you are emotionally involved in defending other hipsters. Review briefly your responses in this thread and see how GAHHHH OFFENDED you are that people are making fun of the shiathead in the article and similarly situated shiatheads.Okay. I don't think I was ever offended. Just pointing out that the word has lost all meaning and is applied to all young people. Again, just disagreeing with people's strange hatred of a group of people.I dislike bikers who don't follow the traffic laws too.there are plenty of aging hipsters as well. The people who head back into college in their late 30s-50s who learn macrame, drink chianti, and place a few well chosen books on the coffee table who think they discovered radio head and coldplay, and get a lizard tatted on their foot and a acquire a nose ring, usually getting a red streak dyed in.Friday nights are spent at the local hookah bar eating stuffed grape leaves and wondering aloud if they should sign up for belly button classes.I don't hate any of them, everyone just wants to belong in the end right? It is all very tribal and conforming when groups dress, think, and act alike. However, being a rebel is not becoming a cliche of a demographic that you aspire to belong to.And you label yourself a young, urban dweller, you deserve the title hipster.Yeah, that all makes sense. "Hipsters" are not the people starting fights or making too much noise. They generally keep to themselves in my experience. They are way down the list of people who bother me when I am out so that is why I am confused about all the hate they get.
GAT_00: That article is very satisfying.
BumpInTheNight: Woohoo cars vs bikes thread! I'll just leave this link to a diesel truck sharing the road with some cyclists here./now that's how you produce the lulz
bucket_chemist: I'm going to go put on some lycra shorts
EnderX: thismomentinblackhistory: Cars should be equipped with sensors that slow their speed ~50% when a bicycle is near.I hear bicycles have a sensor that slows their riders intelligence by 50% when they are riding,
JohnCarter: Bushwick artist Daniel Greer,on his bike ride home from his photography assistant gigWell I am confused, is he a flannel wearing cutting edge hipster artist OR an underemployed underappreciated photo assistant?
Erix: oukewldave: I don't know if he could look any more "hipster-y" than he does in the picture. Maybe some visible stickers on his bike?Really? Having the earbuds in makes him look a little douchey, but he's not wearing anything ironic, doesn't have skinny jeans, his head/facial hair is unkempt but not intentionally ridiculous.. I'm not really seeing it.Is flannel and a bike all it takes now?
Metalupis: notmtwain: If it gets him to stop at red lights and pay attention while he is cycling, it might be the best $1,155 he ever spends. As someone who bikes for fun on the weekends, I agree with this soooooo much
xynix: I live in the burbs.. Not many cyclists out here and of those that are they're the tight clothes logo wearing kind. A special kind of douche..
