notmtwain: If it gets him to stop at red lights and pay attention while he is cycling, it might be the best $1,155 he ever spends.
thismomentinblackhistory: Cars should be equipped with sensors that slow their speed ~50% when a bicycle is near.
TheMega: eurotrader: So the guy on the bike got caught by a cop in a car. He must be new to riding in NYC and a little dim witted or have poor vision if he did not notice the cop watch him go through 4 red lights, so he does deserve the tickets. Unless the cop knew him and had a dislike I can not picture any cop getting out of the car to chase him down very far.I do not live in a very big city... but I would bet my LIFE there is not f'n way in hell a stupid pig could have caught me (or a few select friends) if we took off from them in our neighborhood while in our riding days, during our teen years.Between knowing the "rough" brick streets where we could easily outrun a run because it was downhill and a car at a higher speed would most likely wind up hitting one too many dips and wrecking into cars parked on either side of the street... to one way streets (including a 3 lane that was always packed with traffic)...Oh yeah, and the time we actually had cops after us...I haven't been on a bike in years and do not plan on doing so anytime soon.. but, think this giving tickets to people riding bikes and taking points off a driver's licence is nothing but flat out armed robbery.
Markoff_Cheney: ?see context, i got a ticket for riding on the sidewalk. we were cutting across some one way streets that were opposite our direction and mellowly rode on the sidewalk right by the capitol building in denver.holy fark this place hates people on bikes more than the jesus freaks.
Kid the Universe: /not a New Yorker but been here 10 years now. true "New Yorkers" are as provincial and small-minded as any of you other idiots who have never left home. but that's cool, because places like New York collect people who decided to cut the cord and move away from Mommy and Daddy. anyone who can make it here on their own for years on end is better for it and exactly the kind of person i'd like to share a round of drinks with. the rest of you cletuses please stay in podunk
BumpInTheNight: Woohoo cars vs bikes thread! I'll just leave this link to a diesel truck sharing the road with some cyclists here./now that's how you produce the lulz
gtp123: This guy isn't living on $15,000/year even in Bushwick. Also, wearing headphones on your bike, in a city? wat?
theflatline: MrHappyRotter: I'm going to side with him, it's multiple instances of the same violation and the cops are double dipping. But I'm only siding with him because he doesn't look too hipsterish and he's got a really pretty mouth I'd like to stick my dick in.Hahahahaha. I had a hipster kid in about 2007 tell me it was ok to make out with other dudes as long as you didn't go all the way you weren't gay, then he preceded to make out with another flaming hipster for ten minutes and I think their beards got stuck together.I banged his girlfriend that night because she said this to me "i am tired of talking about his feelings, listening to bad poetry, I just want to get drunk and farked."Trust me fellas, hipster girls are easy to bang. You just got to wash em off first.
JohnCarter: Bushwick artist Daniel Greer,on his bike ride home from his photography assistant gigWell I am confused, is he a flannel wearing cutting edge hipster artist OR an underemployed underappreciated photo assistant?
lordargent: $1555 = about one-tenth of his annual income? So is annual income is about $15,550 ... in new york?Aren't hipsters supposed to have money, you know, to buy all of that ironic hipster swag?
Generation_D: As someone that has to dodge asshat cyclists while I walk around near my home downtown in Seattle, I applaud this action and look forward to the day in the future when we have similar enforcement here.
Snarky Acronym: A bicyclist hit and killed a pedestrian here on a trail, so yeah this guy could've easily clipped a pedestrian, knocked them over and caused a death or injury.
jake_lex: xynix: I live in the burbs.. Not many cyclists out here and of those that are they're the tight clothes logo wearing kind. A special kind of douche..I hate cyclists who just ride around town in those skin tight shorts. This isn't the farking Tour de France, asshole, I don't wanna see your package.
