I stand corrected.

Judging by sales of the most popular album, 1.2 million can't be wrong. And of those who purchased the album, probably 3x that amount illegally downloaded, so let's say @4.8 million Dane Cook fans can't be wrong.

Actually, having MORE fans would scare me, since the average U.S. citizen is a drooling idiot. I mean, look at TV "Hey let's create 6 different shows based on a karaoke contest! Hey let's make 14 shows about pawn shops! Hey let's make 26 shows about tow-truck companies!

The most popular music is sh*t, the most popular authors are sh*t (I'm looking at YOU, Stephen King!), there exist no "celebrity" who's done anything worth celebrating and pretty much all media panders to the lowest common denominator so your...again...drooling idiots can feel better about themselves.
