Somewhere out there, there's a swordfish that keeps swimming in circles.

I believe in swordfish!

It's all fun and games until a swordfish loses an eyeball.

Farking idiots. Anyone whose taken even a remedial graduate level ichthyology taxonomic class can see this is a classic example of Sarda chiliensis lineolata.

Stupid scientist dudes must have lost their eyeballs.

What would you want with that? You're a dolphin. You'll put an eye out with that thing.

At the time, that was pretty typical. My first experience with 50s horror/sci-fi was "Fiend Without a Face", which if I'm remembering correctly, had a bunch of disembodied brains with attached spinal columns floating around attacking people.

Poor little guy. He's probably out there somewhere, swimming around in circles, freaking out his whole family.

2012-10-13 10:07:55 AM
I mean, I can sort of see what happened.

"Here's the title drop! "THE EYE CREATURE" !!"

"Hey Lou, we need to spice that up a bit. Something with Attack or Revenge or Awakening, something scary like that."

"Okay okay, I'll stick "Attack Of The" on top of the original title drop. Let's go get drinks!"

/and not a single proof was read that day

/probably nobody cared, most likely a C-movie drive-in makeout flick

2012-10-13 10:17:48 AM
This was bothering me enough that I had to look it up. "Attack of the the eye creatures" was a Google autofill...

From Wikipedia:
"Finally, in keeping with a frequent practice of B-movie re-release retitling, the phrase "Attack of the" was grafted on top of the original in the title screen. Unfortunately, the editor failed to notice that the original already included a "the", producing the redundant Attack of the The Eye Creatures."

Inigo:

"They just didn't care."

Also from that Wikipedia page:
" Their riffing produced the fan-favorite phrase "They just didn't care," which has been applied to other movies viewed on the show as well being a page on TV Tropes."

It took a while, but now I see what you did there.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for swordfish from now on.

I'm dubious about this guy and his assessment. If the quote is correct, he calls a swordfish a Scombrid. Scomrids are tunas; swordfish are Xiphiids.

I kept my Madballs from childhood, along with some others.

Over the decades, the cheap foam of those things rotted away. Crapped up the whole box of toys.

/Were fun before they rotted.
