I guess I should finish the thought. It is always the Republicans claiming that a reduction in regulation will spur job growth, and they may be right. However, lowering the unemployment rate through industrial accident deaths isn't what most of us want to see happen.

In conclusion, LeglessDog is spot on.

: hitlersbrain: Keep voting republican and you can see stories like this every day.

Obvious troll is obvious. Use some tact.

Democrats aren't bright enough to spell "tact," so for them to actually use it is expecting too much.

The Left Side of the Bell Curve is very much committed to Projecting. They consistently accuse their perceived enemies of what they themselves do. Example: They are "smarter" than Republicans.

I don't think that's trolling. Without OSHA keeping an eye on worker safety, many companies wouldn't concern themselves with it. Some would voluntarily care, but as history has shown us you might end up eating a lot of Soylent Green.

Methinks you're both spinning things to reflect what you want to believe (Republicans are evil and want poor workers to die in order to increase profits).

. . . . find a comment by Romney/Ryan stating they want to dissolve OSHA, and perhaps I'll change my mind.

Once again . . . you're making baseless claims ("Republicans want industrial workers to die so that the unemployed can assume their positions, and in turn reduce the unemployment rate.")

If you can't admit that kind of comment is an enormous stretch, then you're beyond reasoning with.

Personally, Daxxenos, I'm optimistic enough to think they are actually "bright enough" . . . I think they're so consumed by their emotions their unable (or unwilling) to allow the facts to override their bleeding hearts.

No, the future re-election of Romney is producing powerful temporal preverberations. Duh.

Vote for the winner! Carry your guns around all day and spark up a boobies! Then throw both of those in the Wabash river!

Do I make sense? Is this right? You are the only one who can see this.

It's right before the election. And both parties have paid a lot of people to go out and work the social media.

Arthurgoboom: Without OSHA keeping an eye on worker safety, many companies wouldn't concern themselves with it.

You act is if OSHA is staffed with saints. They're just employees who cycle out of the same industry that they regulate and they are in on the fix that regulations are routinely sidestepped for faster production. They're buddy-buddy with plant managers and they tip them off before surprise inspections so that there are *some* fines and citations handed out, but the big violations are cleaned up before the inspectors stop by.

I worked in a car plant that had all kinds of hazardous procedures bypassed on a regular basis. We used to have a rotating work station where car bodies moved among a few stations. It was set up so that all 5 or 6 employees had to finish their job, stand on a pressure mat, and use both hands to actuate two safety switches. Only when all employees were standing back with hands on the buttons would the machinery cycle the car bodies to the next station. Well, that apparently took too long for all the workers to put hands on the switches all at the same time, so those switches were bypassed so all you had to do was step back and stand on the mats. Well, even that was taking too long when workers had to wait on the mats until the cars were in position for the next cycle (time lost walking from the car bodies back to the safety mats, then time lost walking from the safety mats to the car bodies) so all the mats except one were bypassed. The person with the job that took the least amount of time to do was tasked with then watching to see when the other employees in the group were *maybe* finished with their job: then he/she was to step on the single safety mat hooked up and have the car bodies rotated to new stations where employees could then IMMEDIATELY start working, maybe even starting with the welding and polishing while the car bodies were still moving to their new position.

You think OSHA ever fined anyone over that? NO, it was all put back to spec when the OSHA people stopped by for a "surprise" inspection, and then bypassed again once they left.

As someone who used to repair steam sterilizers in hospitals, a device that is very close in construction and operation to this device, I can assure you this poor man died in a most horrific manner.
