Befuddled: Are the rightwingers going to give Obama grief for not calling this terrorism?

It's just like the modern Republican party to politicize events overseas to their maximum conspiratorial shaping. Obama didn't go on national television that night (like Romney did when he condemned the Embassy staff) and tell the American people this was terrorist action, when this attack happened under the auspices of widespread protests in Egypt as well as other places.

Here's a clue, Conservatives, when something as serious as an Embassy raid and Ambassador homicide happens, you do a thorough investigation on your own and make sure what you state takes everything possible into consideration. For instance, the administration might claim no knowledge of terrorist activity in order to better lull culprits into a sense of safety and therefore easier to identify or any other number of variables. You can't just say to the American public in a press conference "It was the terrurists again!" and warn of showing national weakness while threatening to invade. That's a conservative's foreign policy approach, not a holistic, THOUGHTFUL way to conduct your national interest around the globe.

Romney showed the depth of his potential Presidential caliber and ability to handle foreign affairs when he went on national television and insulted the trapped Embassy workers' pleas for calm, before the shooting was over. He blamed Obama, knowing full well Obama did not author that statement. Along with other gaffes such as the 47% remark, his respect for the intelligence of the American populace is obvious. Unfortunately, even after all this, he has managed to close some of the gap in the polls and so on that criteria he might be right to underestimate us.

It's a farking short amendment. About guns.

Well, it's simple: conservatives believe they have a right to intimidate, suppress, or outright kill people with whom they disagree politically, especially if those people win.

i'd say that's true of some Republicans. most are law abiding people who either spend their lives in willful ignorance of the world around them or they decide to live in fear and be proud of their chosen lifestyle. VERY few of them actually shoot at Democrats (or anyone else for that matter).

A large percentage of current Republican supporters are dangerously disturbed tards that are encouraged by the ever so responsible folks of talk radio and Fox News. Just a couple of years ago, Michelle Bachmann was encouraging the paranoiacs to shoot Census workers. If anything, the Obama administration has been overly patient with this kind of nonsense. Does anyone believe radical left wing loons would have gotten away with daily exhortations of violence during the Reagan years?

Irrespective of how the election goes, the GOP is toast. If Obama wins, the batshiat insane element in the Republican Party will blame the last few responsible adults in the party for not being "conservative" enough. In others, the party will be taken over entirely by the Randoids and raputure-bunnies. It will drift so far out into Insane-o-Land it will never be heard from again.

If Willard wins, it is unlikely that he will deliver all, or even most. of what he promised, in which case, see above.

If Willard wins, and gets most of what he wants, the American economy will be destroyed. Best case scenario: The Randiods and rapture-bunnies will again blame the current gang in charge for not being "conservative" enough. Worst case, they will see conspiracies and sabotage everywhere, like the true paranoiacs that they are. What follows will be a bloodbath.

You want to see extremism, watch what happens when Obama loses. The strategy of destroying America from within the system will have failed. The left will have no other choice but getting the "Revolucion" freak on.

[upload.wikimedia.org image 250x338]

Lets assume for a moment that you aren't a troll - for arguments sake.

All this nonsense about how the left wing "wants to destroy America" etc - you actually believe that BS? Well tell me then, why would we do that? What would we gain from destroying the nation we live in. Why would we want to "ruin" the greatest nation on Earth - the same nation that allows us a lifestyle that much of the world can only dream about? How exactly is that in our best interests?

And you believe we hate America? Exactly how does that work? For what reason would we hate America?

You can't answer those questions - for there are no answers. You cannot prove that which is not true in the first place. That is all just stuff you tell yourselves and believe without thinking. You hear it so much in the echo chamber that you dare not question it - for you it has become "common sense." But if you would begin to use your own senses, you might see something different.

Seems like it was a tie to me.

You mean the poll which outright admits it oversampled Republicans? That poll?

How can a poll admit anything? It's a poll. Only a person can admit to something.

Whatever. The footnotes for the poll admit that more Republicans were polled than Democrats.

if that's true than it's even WORSE for Ryan. that would imply that support for the Republican ticket is weaker than expected.

If anyone cares... As a somewhat independent (of the major parties) person that will be voting for neither in attendance... my opinion on the debate:

Ryan looked out of his league. He made some decent points, brought up some decent counter-arguments and at least handled himself 'respectfully'. However... as his national, high profile coming-out party? He just looked like a rookie. Simple as that.

Biden took control of the tone and timber of the entire evening... and occasionally made Ryan look like a moron. Biden also had a few strong highlights of great counterpoints to Ryan's talking points. However... about 1/3 to 1/2 way through... the entire 'Biden Schtick' got a little annoying... then more... then a lot. Eventually... he reminded me of one of my drunk uncles sitting at the Thanksgiving table yelling over everybody that they didn't know shiat 'cause they hadn't seen shiat.

Biden's job/gameplan was to overrun Ryan and erase the impression of "weakness" left in the wake of the previous debate and "re-energize" the Democrat base. Ryan's job was to demonstrate that he had a clear grasp of the issues and understanding of the policies he represented... and to not embarrass himself.

As far as the success towards these goals... Biden clearly won.

However... in trying to lure independent/undecided voters... I'd have to call it a tie... since I ...

i like this opinion. but ryan did lie his ass off and looked a fool in foreign policy.

Beware politics and campaigning, it is bloodier than most people imagine. Most have no idea what they are getting themselves into when they help out with campaigning. My mother helped actually run a campaign up in Washing State a few decades ago against a incumbent (no details). They hired teams of investigators and sent out police detectives to dig up dirt, make up some dirt, play rough. They, they really farking made an example out of her and the people she worked with. Destroyed their lives in that state, ran some out (like my mom), others ended up in prison, I think one is still in prison. Took my mom a decade to recover from that shiat, and she wont ever touch a campaign again out of farking fear. Dont box outside your weight as she says.

You post here. You are likely not rich or powerful enough politically to get into this if it gets ugly. Unless you know for absolute fact that you will be involved in a clean campaign on both sides. Walk away. fark that, run away. My mother wishes she had.

I say this will all sincerity and legitimate fear of just how far these American Taliban will go.

I always find it funny when somebody feels the need to tell you that they ignored you. Particularly when they do it like this... Can't handle the very thought of anyone expressing an opinion other than what you want to believe. All you do by ignoring people is admit that your position is so damn weak that it can't stand criticism. The only other group of people that react this way to me are fundamentalist Christians.

Sorry, I had to put that in bold because I just know some idiot is going to come in screaming about how the conservatives on XYZ site ignore people all the time so I had to make sure people saw the important bit.

No connection left with reality you say? How many arrests, rapes, riots, vandalism, altercations with police, and attempted terrorist attacks did the Tea Party engage in? Zero you said? But they're the dangerous terrorists because they... gasp... Think the government spends too much money? What a bunch of nuts. In the meantime time and time and time again the OWS movement was connected with all sorts of criminal behavior including as I said an attempted terrorist attack

neenerist:
Thanks pal.

Let's see... No connection what so ever to Tea Party since it and everything that led up to it happened 20 years ago? No connection what so ever to any Republican or major right wing organization? Random disgruntled lone wolf? Was already a nut and then experimented with drugs? It's a good thing that we managed to stop the OWS people who attempted a terrorist attack but if they had pulled it off would that be cause to drag out pictures of them for decades down the line to make some "point"? Shall I find pictures of Bill Ayres for you?

Of all the pictures I've seen here on FARK during this election cycle, this one by far is the most disgusting, yet truthful picture posted yet. This is real reason why so many republicans hate president Obama, expressed in public on a t-shirt for everyone to read. They just cannot reconcile in their mind the idea of a black man in charge of anything, especially when that black man is the leader of the free world and holder of the highest elected office in this country. For some reason that really galls the living sh*t out of them, and f*cks with the paradigm in their heads that only a white man should have that kind of power.

I will give this particular inbred acknowledgement for saying in public what so many other white people believe yet would not say. At least they're one or two steps above him on the idiot scale because they know when to keep their mouths shut and their rancid opinions and beliefs to themselves. This does make them more difficult to spot and either avoid or point at and ridicule.

I didn't watch as I had no real interest in seeing which group of corporations won the night but from the instal-polls afterward it seemed like pretty much a tie. I saw the CNN one you showed but the important number from that is that it was a tie with Independents. I saw two other polls. One heavily favored Biden and the other heavily favored Ryan.

It was not a tie. Biden wiped the floor with him. The allegedly liberal news media is always negative against the powers that be about 43% of the time. The only anomaly is Fox News Channel, which has a particular bias, all of the time, no matter who is president. But when Romney and Obama squared off to accomplish absolutely nothing in what an objective observer would call a stalemate (or at best a lacking performance from Obama), all you saw was Romney winning hands-down/ WTF with Obama?/ Romney's suddenly changing minds headlines. Biden takes that sycophantic glee club punk to task, and all of the sudden the news media is ponderous and hesitant. It's how it has always been and always will be.

Eventually... he reminded me of one of my drunk uncles sitting at the Thanksgiving table yelling over everybody that they didn't know shiat 'cause they hadn't seen shiat.

Which is exactly how it was. Ryan is a greenhorn with next to nil in political experience, especially foreign matters. Biden has been in this for, what, almost three decades or so? And Ryan goes in acting like he knows everything about everything and spewing the exact same talking points and lies that Rush Limbaugh and the right have been repeating for the last 3.5 years. Biden wasn't about to let him get away with it, and frankly we need more of the right being called out and their bullshiat exposed.

Truth isn't pretty, nor does it always win friends. But it certainly influences people.

Sadly, among conservative friends and family (even my own dear sweet mother) this is the general consensus.

Breitbart is full of op-eds like this today. They're really hammering home that Biden seemed unhinged to them.

Also, now that it's come out that the CIA was involved in that consulate, they've doubled down on Obama and the State Department.

It's like reading news from an alternate reality.

They're crying about "Biden being so mean!" and "What a jackass!" because they're not used to people standing up to them. For 3.5 years they've been constantly filibustering and fighting and whining and nailing themselves to crosses, and for the most part they've done it with barely a peep or motion against it. Then Biden gets his chance to unload what's likely 3.5 years of pent-up "SHUT. THE FARK. UP." to the right, and it left them flabbergasted. They're hurt and angry that someone had the gall to call them out on their buffoonery, and on national television and radio to boot. All their antics are right now is overdoing their martyr routine to win sympathy, like a child throwing a tantrum so his parents relent and let him have the cookie jar.

And they've brought it on themselves. They could have actually worked WITH Obama and the left to, you know, actually fix America. Instead they swore that, above all else, Obama was going to be a one-term president, and nothing else mattered. They've been spoiled petulant children for nearly four years, and it's high time they got MORE of the smacking and spanking Biden issued. The left tried to be civil, and it didn't work. If civility doesn't work, you go to stark reality.

I don't disagree. I have a lot of respect for Biden as a politician... wasn't saying he IS a bozo... just that, in this particular debate, his antics overshadowed that... IMO.

Also... not even saying that's bad... the Dems clearly had a gameplan going into this thing... and he ran it to the letter.

I'm not looking at it... but I would guess the "fact check" scoring is somewhere around even and that they both were dancing around the truth some.

And yes... Biden came off as "understanding" foreign policy. Had he not been joking around like a bozo... I would even venture into the "Experienced Statesman" area to describe it.

Ryan looked like he was reciting talking points. I don't necessarily think he said anything that was inherently "stupid"... just looked like he hadn't really thought about it before... if you know what I mean.

I'd have to call it a tie... since I don't think either did that.

Speaking of all that OWS violence...

"Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan said Friday that he is seeking to fire two officers, demote a third and suspend 15 others for their treatment of Occupy Oakland protesters, whose downtown clashes with police drew worldwide attention.

Jordan also revealed that one of his officers - not an officer from an outside agency - fired a beanbag that critically injured Iraq war veteran Scott Olsen on Oct. 25, an incident that galvanized the Occupy movement. Olsen was one of more than a thousand people who rallied after police cleared an elaborate encampment outside City Hall."

After the insanity we've seen in the last four years I'm scared you might be right.

Doubtful, since when the government sent him a note asking him to shoot guns for his country, he promptly shiat his pants and pissed himself.

This was a reference to his quote: "Obama, he's a piece of shiat. I told him to suck on my machine gun. Hey Hillary [Clinton], you might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless biatch."

You want to see extremism, watch what happens when Obama loses. The strategy of destroying America from within the system will have failed. The left will have no other choice but getting the "Revolucion" freak on.

Better stock up on bottled water and canned goods now, to be on the safe side. In fact, you might want to head for your bunker now and wait until you get the all-clear on Nov. 7th. Can't be too careful.

To be fair that poll over sampled republicans. So it would likely be the other way around of it were a normal sample.

Color me shocked. Another lunatic right winger exercising commands and/or suggestions from their Authoritarian leaders they worship. What else would any civilized person expect from such a delusional, unstable, extreme fringe political party as the Republicans and Tea Party.

There is a very good reason the FBI, CIA and Homeland Security are actively watching them. They are nothing but a threat to the security, safety and well being of the United States and should be treated as the terrorists and Anti-Americans they are.

At the very least, I won't be identifying myself as an Obama voter here in Oklahoma.

I guess the good side would be if this were a shot at the building with the intent to harm or otherwise intimidate, the idiot got scared and fled. Hope it was stray gunfire...which is an odd thing to hope for.

AdolfOliverPanties: True, but they do have a "vehicle of interest" in this. There were people there at the time. This wasn't after hours like when Eric Cantor's office was hit by a stray bullet or whatever.

Having people there is a concern, but I don't think random gunfire discriminates between occupied or unoccupied buildings. I am simply reserving judgment because this is a significant accusation. If someone did this, you have reckless endangerment and political intimidation at the least.

yep because they know that Obama in a 2nd term would probably get at least one if not two SCOTUS appointments and that would set their agenda back at least 12 yrs if not more
